New Star Wars Comics & Books Coming July 26th, 2023

Welcome back to another Star Wars new comic book day preview! Next week there are three new Star Wars comics and a 2nd print hitting stores near and far.

Let’s take a look…

Star Wars: Darth Vader – Black, White, & Red #4 is the 4th and final issue of the much-hyped mini-series created by an all-star cast of comic creators such as Jason Aaron, Peach Momoko, David Pepose, Leonard Kirk, Mark Bernardin among others. With such a star-studded lineup I honestly expected the comic to be more memorable. While I enjoyed the read and there were some great moments, I have to really think to remember details from the stories. That being said I’m looking forward to seeing how they wrap everything up.

All of the covers are fantastic for this issue but my pick here is the 1:25 by one of the creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles himself, Kevin Eastman. This is Eastman’s Star Wars debut and the art shows Vader in classic Ninja Turtles comic style. I don’t expect this to be a heavily ordered title so they could be hard to come by down the road.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 2 #2 is what it is. An adaptation of episode two from Season 2 of the Mandalorian. It’s also the first appearance of Carson Teva who is played by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee. The variant I like for this one is the Johnathon Tyler Christopher negative space variant set featuring Mando and a “surprise.”

Psst… the surprise variant is Grogu.

He had a limited presale a few weeks back but will be doing a larger public sale soon. I’ll keep you updated as to when that happens.

Star Wars Hyperspace Stories #6 from Dark Horse will be a Greedo focused story as he tries to win over Jabba the Hutt’s favor while avoiding his temper. No clue if it will be a key or not but I straight up love the Cover A by Tom Fowler. Not 100% sure why, but I do. See the preview of Star Wars Hyperspace Stories 7 here.

Star Wars: #35 2nd print. First full appearance of kyber expert Dr Cuata. If you missed the first print or want to gamble on this being lower order then this one is for you.

As for the Star Wars comics with a FOC deadline this Monday, there are 2.

Star Wars Comic Book FOC Deadlines

For those who aren’t familiar, FOC, or Final Order Cut Off, is when publishers and distributors require retailers to get their orders in. Printers then print according to that number (sometimes with overages). So, if you want to absolutely guarantee you get a book, the best bet is to order it before FOC. Final Order Cut Off is Monday 7/24/23 this week.
