Preview: Star Wars: The High Republic #4 Phase III

Star Wars: The High Republic #4 Phase III by Cavan Scott, James Towe, and Marika Cresta comes out this Wednesday on March 6th, 2024 and today we get a sneak peek into the issue with a 6-page preview from Marvel Comics!

This book is the fourth issue from the main Marvel Comics from Phase III of the High Republic. Based on the variant covers and the opening comic book crawl, you have to think we’re going to see Jedi Master Sskeer officially return in this one.

He’s on the Mico Suayan connecting variant and virgin 1:100 variant with tattered clothes, both arms (it grew back!), looking pretty feral. Doubtful that he’s in a good spot. It seems like his illness has fully taken him over and Keeve will likely try to save him.

The preview shows Keeve, Terec, and Ceret (alongside their prisoner Lourna Dee) on the Ataraxia attempting to access the Nihil Occlusion zone while fighting off a swarm of scav droids. Scav droids seem to be an early version of what the Separatists call Buzz Droids.

It’s going to be interesting to see how much Sskeer we get in this issue. I’m confident we’ll find him in this one but not sure how much story will play out once we do. There’s a chance we get first appearances in this if he has a “handler” or Nihil leader controlling him. Or if he’s just batshit crazy due to his Magrok Syndrome.

I love the Mico Suayan variants and the 1:25 Lourna Dee variant by Ben Harvey.
