Welcome back to another Star Wars new comic book day preview! On Wednesday, July 5th, 2023, there are just two new Star Wars comics coming. I believe this week is intentionally light due to the July 4th holiday in the United States.
Let’s take a look…
Star Wars #36 appears to be taking us in a new direction compared to the last few weeks. As Luke goes off to train in the ways of the force, in the hopes of learning how to purify a red kyber crystal, we are shifting POV back to General Leia Organa and the Rebellion. I personally prefer the Luke / Jedi storylines but this is fine too. Based on the publisher’s description we’ll be looking into the Rebels planning an attack on the new, still unfinished, Death Star.
Star Wars: Yoda #9 will continue wrap up Yoda and Anakin’s mission to destroy the Separatist’s megadroid prototypes. I believe that megadroid prototype that survived the explosion in Star Wars: Yoda #8 is the same design as Ajax Sigma so it could provide some clues as to what to expect in Star Wars: Dark Droids. This issue the final part in a 3 part arc.
Next issue, Star Wars: Yoda #10, is the finale of this series that will wrap everything up as Yoda reflects on his past mistakes and what the future holds. There is some speculation potential for issue #10. I believe it will be centered around the “Lost 20.” I’ll make a separate post on that in the next few days.

There are no Star Wars comics with an FOC this week but you might want to consider checking out the debut preview comic by new publisher, DSTLRY. It’s and oversized one-shot comic called “Devil’s Cut” and contains a few page preview for 8 different stories from some fantastic comic creators. All will have their own series coming out later this year or early next year.

Star Wars Comic Book FOC Deadlines
For those who aren’t familiar, FOC, or Final Order Cut Off, is when publishers and distributors require retailers to get their orders in. Printers then print according to that number (sometimes with overages). So, if you want to absolutely guarantee you get a book, the best bet is to order it before FOC. Final Order Cut Off is Monday 7/03/23 this week.
