Star Wars: Thrawn Alliances #1 by Timothy Zahn and Jody Houser – This is the first issue in a 4-part adaptation from Marvel comics of Timothy Zahn’s 2018 novel, Thrawn Alliances. This book and now comic adaptation address the looming threat of the Grysk to both The Empire and the Chiss Ascendancy as well as Thrawn and Anakin Skywalker’s relationship. If you want more thoughts on this series as a whole check out the preview post I published yesterday here.
There are surprisingly no exclusive variants for this issue. But I personally like the “promo variant.” It uses the same art as a convention exclusive edition of the novel that is pretty hard to find at a reasonable price. Book collectors will likely want it.

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #2 Phase III from Daniel Jose Older and Harvey Tolibao – This one is the 2nd issue of the Dark Horse Comics all-ages run for Phase III of the High Republic and will explore the ramifications that result from the reveal from the final pages of the first issue. How did Lula become a part of the Nihil? What has she been up to in the year since the fall of Starlight Beacon? And will she remember Zeen and Qort?
I’ve read the issue so I don’t want to give anything big away. There are some new characters in it though. I like the cover B for this one.

Star Wars Comic Book FOC Deadlines
For those who aren’t familiar, FOC, or Final Order Cut Off, is when publishers and distributors require retailers to get their orders in. Printers then print according to that number (sometimes with overages). So, if you want to absolutely guarantee you get a book, the best bet is to order it before FOC. Final Order Cut Off is Monday 1/22/24 this week.
