NEW: 2024 Star Wars Books, Graphic Novels, and Omnibuses | Release Dates
Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi #4 by Jody Houser and Salvador Larroca – This is the adaption of Pat 4 of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and will include the first appearance of Kawlan Roken and other minor members of the Partisans. This is the episode where Obi-Wan infiltrates the Fortress Inquisitorius to rescue Leia after she’s captured in episode 3 by Reva.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #42 by Ethan Sacks and Jethro Morales – The end has come for the Star Wars: Bounty Hunters as this issue is the final issue of the series that started all the way back in 2020. It’s been a polarizing series. In my experience, you either love what Ethan has done with Valance and the crew or you didn’t connect with it at all.
But regardless getting to 42 issues is an impressive feat. Valance and the crew will try to infiltrate Jabba’s palace to rescue Han Solo in this 40-page finale. A mission that we know he fails at. But does he die? Or will he simply be put on ice for a bit only to resurface in a later series down the line? My guess is the latter.
I personally really like the Walt Simonson variant. Not only is Walt a comic legend but it’s a fantastic homage of Star Wars #16 from the 1977 run. Which is the first appearance of Beilert Valance. A fitting ending.
NEW: Takashi Okazaki Comic Book Signing Event Kickstarter Coming
Star Wars: The High Republic Phase III #3 by Cavan Scott and James Towe – Keeve vs. Lourna Dee. So based on the first two issues we know that Lourna Dee is no longer affiliated with the Nihil but she still has control of the Ataraxia, Avar Kriss’ ship that Lourna stole during the fall of Starlight Beacon. Interested to see how this fits into the bigger picture narrative of Phase III. Right now the story has been largely contained to this small conflict between the Nihil, the Jedi, and the Hutts.
From a comic speculation standpoint, the Star Wars: The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight series by Charles Soule has been the class of Phase III. Issues #1, #3, and #4 all have significant first appearances in them. And I personally like the potential of the Takashi Okazaki spotlight variants long term because the print run is crazy low and the art is beautiful. Demand for exclusive variants is at a low point right now but once The High Republic begins to make its way to more shows, video games, toy aisles, etc. I could see these popping off.
But as with anything you never know. Don’t buy anything just because I like it. It’s your money. Spend it on what you personally like and want to spend it on.
Star Wars Hyperspace Stories Vol 2 from Dark Horse Comics – This is a trade paperback that collects Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories #5-8.

Star Wars Comic Book FOC Deadlines
For those who aren’t familiar, FOC, or Final Order Cut Off, is when publishers and distributors require retailers to get their orders in. Printers then print according to that number (sometimes with overages). So, if you want to absolutely guarantee you get a book, the best bet is to order it before FOC. Final Order Cut Off is Monday 1/15/24 this week.
