New Star Wars Comics & Books For January 3rd, 2024

by GrandAdmiralFrik

Welcome to the weekly new Star Wars comics post where I break down all-new comics & books coming out next week, January 3rd 2024. First new comic book day of the year! As all Star Wars comics with a final order cutoff next Monday, January 1st!

Let’s get into it.

NEW: 2024 Star Wars Books, Graphic Novels, and Omnibuses | Release Dates

Star Wars: Darth Vader #42 by Greg Pak and Adam Gorham – This is the first Star Wars: Darth Vader comic issue after the Dark Droids crossover event and kicks off a new arc for the run by Greg Pak. Based on the publisher description and the cover A art it will be the first appearance of Enric Pryde in comics.

Star Wars: Shadows of Starlight #4 by Charles Soule and David Messina – The final issue of the 4-part Star Wars: The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight Mini-series that sets up Phase III of the High Republic. This one will be villain focused as Marchion Ro and his Nihil Ministers make their plans behind the occlusion zone. I’m hoping for some flashbacks and a first appearance of Marchion’s ancestor, Marda Ro. Should also be the first appearance of Boolan, an Ithorian who serves as the Minister of Advancement under Ro. He’s basically a twisted mad scientist type character who created the Children of the Storm.

As usual with this run, I am a huge fan of the Takashi Okazaki “spotlight” variants. The 1:25 is pretty sick as well.

Star Wars: Darth Vader – Black, White, and Red Treasury Edition TPB – This is an oversized trade paperback of the Star Wars: Darth Vader – Black White and Red mini-series from earlier in the year. It dwarfs the average comic size. I ordered one. Mainly because I want to see this big boy in person. The series was just ok to me. But I am reserving final judgement until I can read the whole thing in one sitting.

NEW: New Exclusive Rebels Variant Set Announced For Darth Vader #42-45

Star Wars Young Jedi Adventures – The Jellyfruit Pursuit – This is a children’s book by Little Golden Books. I added it because I figured… why the kriff not? You know?

FOC: No Star Wars comics and/or books with an FOC deadlines this Monday. 2nd week in a row. Weird time of year with Christmas and New Years mucking things up.

Check out everything new coming up (including all variants) below and get your pre-orders in over at TFAW or here over The Comic Corner.

Star Wars Comic Book FOC Deadlines

For those who aren’t familiar, FOC, or Final Order Cut Off, is when publishers and distributors require retailers to get their orders in. Printers then print according to that number (sometimes with overages). So, if you want to absolutely guarantee you get a book, the best bet is to order it before FOC. Final Order Cut Off is Monday 1/1/24 this week.

Nothing on FOC this week. But the March 2024 (and some April) 2024 comics are up for pre-order on TFAW. If you’re in a?pre-ordering mood you can go peep those here:
