Welcome to the weekly new Star Wars comics post where I break down all-new comics & books coming out next week, December 20th, 2023. As all Star Wars comics with a final order cutoff next Monday, December 18th!

Star Wars Revelations #1 (2023) – This comic is an anthology comic that will have seven different stories from seven different creative teams that will tease stories that will make up the bulk of the 2024 slate of Star Wars comics from Marvel. The credits page from the art preview last month shows that we’re getting stories from:
- Star Wars (main run)
- Mace Windu (new mini-series)
- Jango Fett (new mini-series)
- Darth Vader (current run)
- The High Republic (Phase III)
- Doctor Aphra (current run that ends in January)
- Jabba the Hutt (I’m guessing this will be a new mini-series)
I expect a significant amount of first appearances in this issue as we kick off a new era for Doctor Aphra (more on that in a separate post coming soon), and multiple new series that will be started up next year. It’s a no-brainer key issue. My personal choice from a comic speculation standpoint would be cover A. The 1:100 virgin variants haven’t been popping off lately and I think it’s much more likely that Cover A will end up worth $20 than the 1:100 ends up being worth $200.
Star Wars: The High Republic #2 (2023)Â by Cavan Scott and James Towe – The first issue kicked off Phase III of the High Republic by setting the stage and establishing stakes, but I expect this issue to provide the needed context. Who is Brother Lycos? Why is Lourna Dee working with the Hutts AGAINST the Nihil? WTF IS GOING ON?? Should be a fun one. I’m a big fan of the Rod Reis variant. Just stunning work.Â

Star Wars: Darth Vader #41 by Greg Pak and Raffaele Ienco – This is the final Dark Droids crossover issue for the Darth Vader series. I guess that we get a lot of Anakin flashbacks and Vader uses that as motivation to defeat the scourge. Or at least hold the scourge off from taking him over completely.
Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #39 by Alyssa Wong and Minkyu Jung – The penultimate issue of the current Doctor Aphra run that started back in 2020. Like Darth Vader #41, this issue will be the final Dark Droids crossover issue of this series and will undoubtedly be centered around Aphra saving her friend and former lover Magna Tolvin before moving on to the series finale in January

For those who aren’t familiar, FOC, or Final Order Cut Off, is when publishers and distributors require retailers to get their orders in. Printers then print according to that number (sometimes with overages).
