Welcome to the weekly new Star Wars comics post where I break down all-new comics & books coming out next week, December 6th, 2023. As all Star Wars comics with a final order cutoff next Monday, December 4th!
After a light week last week we’ve got a much bigger slate to go through. Let’s talk about it.

Star Wars: Dark Droids – D-Squad #4 by Marc Guggenheim and Salva Espin – Triple Zero, BT-1, R2-D2, 4-LOM, and IG-88 take on the scourge infected tortured droid from Jabba’s Palace, EV-9D9, It will be interesting to see if EV interacts with R2-D2 at all or if their mind is erased somehow. Would be weird for them to no know each other in The Return of the Jedi.
I love the Ajax Sigma Action figure variant but it’s also listed as a variant for Star Wars: Dark Droids #4 so I am not sure if this is actually accurate.
Star Wars #41 by Charles Soule and Madibek Musabekov – This is the final Dark Droids tie-in issue from the mainline Star Wars run and should wrap up Lando’s rescue of Lobot from the scourge. If you hate spoilers you may want to avoid reading this one until after Dark Droids #5 comes out in a few weeks…
I just proofed Issue 5 last week – it’s awesome, and I’m very proud of it. That said, a little something to be aware of. Star Wars #41, which is telling a parallel story deeply connected to the main event, will be out the first week of December. It… completely spoils the ending of the main Droids event series. IÂ strongly recommend you get it, wait three weeks, read Droids 5 first, then read SW #41. How did this happen? Well, comics is a complicated business, and sometimes things like this just slip through. There’s a disclaimer at the front of the issue, but if you care about such things, my vaunted “authorial intent” would say you should read them in the order I mentioned above – Droids 5, then SW #41. I apologize for any inconvenience!

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures #1 (2023) from Phase III by Daniel Jose Older and Harvey Tolibao – The first Phase III High Republic issue from Dark Horse comics and our first return to the High Republic Adventures plot from Phase I. I got an advanced copy of this from Dark Horse and it rules. It’s a really great read. If you’re a fan of Older’s work… you’ll love it. Without actually spoiling anything, there are some new characters in it. Time will tell how important they are but its a worthy pickup. Cover B has two new Mikkian characters on the cover.
Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures (2022) Phase II TPB Vol. 2 – This trade paperback collects the last 4 issues of the Phase II HRA comics from Dark Horse.
Star Wars Legends Epic Collection – The New Republic Vol. 7 from Marvel comics – This includes a hodgepodge of o.g. Dark Horse stories. You can see the full details in the publisher description below.
Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia by Amy Richau and Megan Crouse – Copies of this have been floating around in the wild for a few weeks already as a few retailers put them out early. Everyone who’s gotten one seems to love it.
Star Wars: Dawn of the Rebellion Visual Guide HC by DK Publishing – This visual guide has bts content about the Rebellion and why their ships, outfits, weapons, etc. look the way they do. If you’re a big New Hope, Rogue One, or Andor fan it’s probably something you should check out.

Star Wars Comic Book FOC Deadlines
For those who aren’t familiar, FOC, or Final Order Cut Off, is when publishers and distributors require retailers to get their orders in. Printers then print according to that number (sometimes with overages). So, if you want to absolutely guarantee you get a book, the best bet is to order it before FOC. Final Order Cut Off is Monday 12/04/23 this week.
