Welcome back to another Star Wars new comic book day preview! Next week there are three new Star Wars comics, two trade paperbacks, and one hardcover book hitting stores.
Let’s take a look…
Star Wars: Dark Droids #1 kicks off a brand new Star Wars comic crossover event led by Charles Soule and Luke Ross in Dark Droids. This will be mini-series that crosses over with Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra, Bounty Hunters, and main Star Wars runs. I’ve actually already read a preview of the first issue of Dark Droids that many retailers were sent weeks ago. Super fun read but the interesting part is that the last 3 pages were blacked out and marked “confidential.”

The pages leading up to that point didn’t give me enough info to confidently predict what happens. But it certainly could be the introduction of an important character, but it could also just be an important moment in the story that they don’t want to spoil and may hold no spec value. Just something to consider.
Also, there were surprisingly no exclusives for this issue so the ratios will likely not be watered down like they are with so many other series first issues. My pick here is the Camuncoli Foil variant with Rd-D2 on the front. It’s been a decade or so since we’ve gotten a foil treatment on a Star Wars comic.

Star Wars: Yoda #10 is the finale of the 10-part Yoda series and will be written by Cavan Scott. I’ve also read this issue. I can tell you it’s easily the best of the series. Yoda gets some big character building moments from his time on Dagobah that you won’t want to miss. There may more may not be a High Republic connection. 🙂
Star Wars Hyperspace Stories #7 from Dark Horse comics pits the GOAT Boba Fett vs. Bossk. I don’t know very much about this issue but I can say that the cover art for Cover A by Tom Fowler and the Cover B by Cary Nord are fantastic. We’ve had no shortage of Boba covers over the last few years and these two somehow found a way to create a fresh take on his depiction.
Star Wars: Thrawn TPB (New Printing) FINALLY! I love collected editions. Trade paperbacks and omnibuses are my favorite part of my collection. But I do not own the Thrawn TPB because for years it was selling for $50+ on ebay and I didn’t want to pay that. This new printing gives collectors a chance to own the collected edition at a reasonable price.
Star Wars: Doctor Aphra Vol 6 The Ascendant collects Doctor Aphra (2020) #26-31
And lastly, Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett Collectors Ed HC by Titan Comics is also out next week. It’s a behind the scenes book that will share concept art, stories, etc. from the making of The Book of Boba Fett.

For those who aren’t familiar, FOC, or Final Order Cut Off, is when publishers and distributors require retailers to get their orders in. Printers then print according to that number (sometimes with overages). So, if you want to absolutely guarantee you get a book, the best bet is to order it before FOC.
