The September 2023 Marvel Comics solicitations have arrived and they give us a look at all Marvel Star Wars comics coming out this September!
I’ve included all of the variants and publisher’s descriptions below for all of the upcoming Star Wars books, but a few stood out.

Here are the most notable things to me.
- Two new comic series kick off in September 2023, the Star Wars: Dark Droids spin-off, Star Wars: Dark Droids – D-Squad, and the Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi adaptation.
- D-Squad is particularly interesting to me as the description says it will be “filled with guest stars from all over the Galaxy.”
- D-Squad also includes a 10-page bonus story called, “The Book of Ajax”, that will dive more into Ajax Sigma’s backstory. I would love for this to be a consistent addition to all of the issues. Telling a part of the story at each step.
- General Grievous will somehow play a role in Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #38. Not sure what he will do but the Bjorn Barends “General Grievous” variant is just insane.
- We’re getting a 2nd round of Star Wars: The Clone Wars 15th Anniversary variants in September 2023. This round is by one of my favorite artists in the game, E.M. Gist. He crushed them. They look amazing.
- The E.M Gist variant for Doctor Aphra #36 featuring Ahsoka will get a virgin variant as well. I’d guess it will be a 1:100.
- Also, it appears Star Wars: Return of the Jedi – Max Rebo (comes out in Aug.) will be the final of the ROTJ one-shots. The others we’re Jabba’s Palace, Lando, Empire, and The Rebellion.
NOTE: Darth Vader #38, Star Wars #38, Doctor Aphra #36, Bounty Hunters #38, and D-Squad are Star Wars: Dark Droids “tie-in” issues. I will add them to the Dark Droids reading order and variant checklist over the next few days when pre-orders open.
