Welcome to the weekly new Star Wars comics post where I break down all-new comics & books coming out next week, December 13th, 2023. As all Star Wars comics with a final order cutoff next Monday, December 11th!

Star Wars: The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight #2 by Charles Soule and Jethro Morales. This is the 3 issue of the 4 part mini-series that details what happened in the year following the fall of Starlight Beacon. Issue #1 was centered around the Jedi council’s reaction and the reveal that Azlin Rell, from Phase II, is still alive and has been using the Darkside to find ways to defeat the Nameless. Issue #2 was focused on Elzar Mann and Avar Kriss dealing with their trauma and guilt due to Stellan Gios’ death.
This issue, Star Wars: Shadows of Starlight #3, will be about Bell Zettifer and Burryaga Agaburry. The Ben Harvey 1:25 variant is a “spoiler” variant but I expect that spoiler to be Burry’s survival, even though we were all told that he survived already on This Week in Star Wars back in July. My top pick for this issue is the Takashi Okazaki exclusive “Spotlight” variant that is being sold by The Comic Corner. Okazaki and TCC have a “spotlight” variant for every issue of the series and they are some of the most beautiful covers of any High Republic comic.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #41 by Ethan Sacks and Davide Tinto – Since it has been announced that the longstanding Star Wars: Bounty Hunters run will end with issue #42, this will be the penultimate issue for the series. I’d expect a lot of setup that leads into the finale. Not sure if that equates to a key or not but I for one am excited to check it out.
Star Wars Hyperspace Stories #12 by Michael Moreci and Andrea Mutti – The finale of this 12 part series that will give us a different view of the Battle of Endor from The Return of the Jedi! I’m legitimately looking forward to finding out what the deal is with that Wookiee toy that has been a part of every issue so far.
Star Wars Insider #223 by Titan – This magazine will include a new High Republic short story, and interview with L&M’s model maker, and a feature on Star Wars fashion from the movies and TV shows.

For those who aren’t familiar, FOC, or Final Order Cut Off, is when publishers and distributors require retailers to get their orders in. Printers then print according to that number (sometimes with overages). So, if you want to absolutely guarantee you get a book, the best bet is to order it before FOC. Final Order Cut Off is Monday 12/11/23 this week.
