The Star Wars: The High Republic – The Blade #2 is out next week on January 25th, 2023 and I am PUMPED for it. We know from the author Charles Soule that we will be getting an introduction to Porter and Barash’s nemesis in the series, General Viess.
I’ve also talked with people who’ve read the issue early and there are multiple other first appearances in this book as well making this a potential key issue in Phase II of the High Republic.
One other notable tidbit is that the Mico Suayan 1:25 retailer incentive variant is Barash Silvain’s first cover appearance. No clue if that means big future value or not but she is the inspiration of the “Barash Vow” that has shown up multiple times in canon now. Regardless of future comic value she is now an entrenched part of Star Wars lore.
If you don’t know, the Barash Vow is a a vow a Jedi can take to remove themselves from the day to day of the Jedi order and instead focus only on the force. They don’t go on missions. They don’t fight. They simply focus intently on understanding the force and their relationship with it.
Porter Engle takes the very first “Barash Vow” as a result of the events of this story. I’m guessing Barash gets killed and Porter blames himself.
Not much else to say. Cool story. Cool characters. New worlds. And first appearances. Not much to dislike.
Check out all of the variants below and be sure to sure to get your pre-orders in now if you’re getting this book. .
For light and life!
