The second volume of High Republic Manga publication, Edge of Balance is out today digitally! If you’re more a physical media person, it will be released in paperback May 24, 2022.

So, let’s check out if we have any first appearances in comics or key events! As a caveat, this book will be published in physical media on May 24, 2022. So, if a comic comes out, namely High Republic Adventures #13 or High Republic #15 before then with the same appearances, we will replace these firsts on our database and update this article with that information.

First of all, readers of the High Republic novels will recognize a member of Marchion Ro’s entourage, Nan! This is her first comic appearance. Those who discount graphic novels or comic publications over 20 or so pages will have to wait for her to show up in another regular monthly comic. Maybe High Republic #15.

Over the past two weeks, there has been some market movement in Sav Malagan’s first comic appearance, High Republic Adventures #8. Maybe collectors, like me are expecting this ancient Jedi, who has been a Jedi for over a hundred years now, to be a part of High Republic Phase 2, a prequel to take place 150 years before the fall of Starlight Beacon. At any rate, this Manga volume is thick with Sav Malagan content! In fact she is the main protagonist besides Lily.

What I loved about Volume 1 of Edge of Balance was how cinematic the whole read felt. I mean, check out this view of the interior of Starlight Beacon! What you’ll experience over this book is how much time and space can be taken to show movement, emotion, setting. The simple, clean lines of all the black and white deftly convey a look and feel that immerse you.
