by DrunkWooky

Welcom back, Everywookiee!

I’ve scoured yesterday’s new releases and below are the first appearances, cameos and key events from this week’s Marvel Star Wars comic releases: Doctor Aphra #16, High Republic Adventures 10, and Monster of Temple Peak #4.

First appearances and keys from these weekly articles get added to or sister site and Star Wars comics first appearance and key issue database, Wookywiki.com!

It’s a light week for first appearances. Nobody of real note. However, interesting things are developing. Read on.

You can grab all these issues at TFAW:

As always, beware, spoilers abound from here on out!

Doctor Aphra #16:

First up, Doctor Aphra #16! To begin with, the cover features Domina Tagge and is a sneaky homage to Domina Tagge’s first appearance, Star Wars #35 (Marvel 1977)!

We get the first appearance of a Toydarian “Slicer Doc” named Murl. He seems like a tertiary character we may never see again, but here he is.

Aphra’s electro-tattoos were incinerated when she wielded the ancient artifact, the Thought Dowser in Doctor Aphra #15. Doctor Aphra #15 is the first appearance of the Thought Dowser, a mind control artifact used by an ancient religious order called The Ascendant. Doctor Aphra #15 is also the first mention and cameo appearance of The Ascendant. In exchange for intelligence on the Black Sun crime syndicate, Domina Tagge fixes Aphra’s tattoos and even upgrades them. The technicians operating on her inform her ominously. I think Domina has low-jacked Aphra’s arm like Facebook on your iPhone.

Later, Aphra tracks down what appears to be a second Thought Dowser. Two of these powerful artifacts in the galaxy can’t be good for anybody.

Suddenly, a mysterious cloaked character, carrying a lightsaber, who seems to have a history with Aphra appears. Let’s put a pin in that until later.

Meanwhile, Just Lucky is surprised by his old crew from his time working under Ronen Tagge. Just Lucky, Tucker, Venters, Kiehart, and Song all first appeared in Doctor Aphra #1 (2020).

They let him know that Ronen survived the blast Aphra caused in his penthouse when stealing the Rings of Vaale. Ronen Tagge also first appears in Doctor Aphra #1 (2020).

High Republic Adventures #10

Although there are no first appearances in this issue, we see Qort unmasked for the first time! By the way, he’s a badass. Qort first appeared in High Republic Adventures #1 and that was also his first cover appearance.

Monster of Temple Peak #4

Again, not too much here in the way of first appearances of key events. This issue is a pretty great wrap up to the series, showing why Ty Yorrick left the Jedi order. Also, it shows her affinity for animals and how she treats missions. She’s not just a hired gun. Even if she isn’t a Jedi, she has a code. Ty Yorrick first appeared in Monster of Temple Peak #1.

We get the first appearance of Tapel, a Boosodian amateur archaeologist. Again, a minor character we’re unlikely to see again, but here he is. At minimum, it’s a cool alien design. The first time we saw a Boosodian was in the Rise of Skywalker and this is actually the first comic appearance of the species.

It’s revealed that the reason Ty’s clients are being attacked is because they have the Gretalax’s symbiotic mate captive. It turns out the Gretalax is actually two creatures, the Greta, and the Lax, who live together in symbiosis.

During a flashback, it’s revealed that Ty accidentally killed her Padawan friend, Klias. This has to have played into her exit from the Jedi order.

Finally, we are promised that we haven’t seen the last of Ty:
