Welcome back , EveryWookiee, to my attempt to track first comic book appearances as they are published in the brand spanking new High Republic initiative from Disney/Lucasfilm. Today, I’m taking a look at IDW’s premiere issue in the initiative, High Republic Adventures #1 written by Daniel Jose Older with art from Harvey Tolibao.
The premiere IDW issue gives us tons of new cover appearances and many more interior first appearances. Inside the pages of this issue we have the eight confirmed first appearances of:
Further, we have what appear to be the first unnamed cameos of the following:
Tolibao Cover A: Lula Talisola, Qort, and Farzala (left to right on Cover A).
Nath 1:10 Incentive Cover: No first cover appearances (Yoda).
Lula Talisola, Qort, and Farzala (padawans).
Zeen Mrala (force sensitive), and Krix.
Torben “Buckets of Blood” Buck (Jedi Master), Bibs (Padawan).
Final Page: Marchion Ro, Eye of the Nihil. While unnamed in the issue, Charles Soule’s Light of the Jedi describes him towards the end: “Marchion’s [mask] was new. Ornate…and the superstorm engraving subsumed within a circle of glowing red-the baleful gaze of a beast. Ro’s clothing, too, had changed, he now wore a heavy fur cloak, worn and ragged in spots. But the wear conveyed a sense of history, of battles survived and won. As it should-it was the cloak of Asgar Ro.” The figure on the final page of High Republic Adventures #1 has a swirling superstorm engraved on his mask and wears a fur cloak. It’s my belief this is Marchion Ro.
