The new catalogs from PRH Comics and Previews should be out any day this week now and Starwars.com has offered up a look at Marvel’s October Star Wars comic offerings! Check out some DrunkWooky analysis and official solicits below! The main draw this month? The relaunch of The High Republic Phase II! Issue 1, releasing in October and penned by Cavan Scott and Ario Anindito, will be a first appearance of Jedi Vildar Mac and many other characters I’m sure! Also, we get a peak inside the history of that ruined world, Jedha!

Keep your eyes peeled on TFAW for pre-orders to go live later this week!

From Starwars.com:

Before the Starlight Beacon lit the way for the Republic, the moon of Jedha was a beacon of faith and spirituality, home to the Temple of Kyber. As Phase II of Star Wars: The High Republic kicks off this fall, the titular Marvel comic series will step back in time 150 years for a prequel to the events of Phase I. Reuniting writer Cavan Scott and artist Ario Anindito, issue #1 will introduce Vildar Mac, a Jedi embarking on a journey that will end in terror.

Get your first look below at the relaunch of Star Wars: The High Republic#1 and other Marvel Star Wars titles coming in October 2022 — including covers and solicits for the flagship Star Wars series, Chapter 4 in the adaptation of The Mandalorian on Disney+, and new installments in Darth Vader and Doctor Aphra.

  • The price of freedom is examined, as the Rebel Alliance comes to understand the true scope of the threat against it.
  • Threepio enters into aggressive negotiations, and Luke Skywalker embarks upon a desperate mission that will test his growing Jedi skills to the limit.

DrunkWooky analysis: Why would Luke be dressed up in an Imperial Officer’s uniform? Interesting. This is what comic covers are for! definitely whetting my appetite!

  • Jedi Vildar Mac, a Jedi safe and secure in who he is and what he could be, arrives as Jedha’s fragile peace begins to crumble. But a nightmare awaits…a nameless terror that will become the stuff of legend.

SANCTUARY!

  • After the fall of the Galactic Empire, lawlessness has spread throughout the galaxy.

DrunkWooky Analysis: This will be the first appearance of Cara Dune in traditional comic book format. Of course, you can check out the full comics publishing history of Mandalorian comics here, but most collectors will gravitate towards these monthly single issues and call this Cara Dune’s first appearance!

THE SHADOW IN THE FIRE!

  • For decades, SabĂ©, Handmaiden of PadmĂ©, schemed to assassinate Darth Vader, whom she believed murdered her queen.
  • But SabĂ© has learned Vader’s greatest secret, and now she fights at his side, believing that someday, she may prove there is still good in him.
  • What happens when the Handmaiden finally comes face-to-face with the Emperor, who knows all of her secrets?
  • The Queen’s Shadow enters the crucible! Will Vader let her burn?

DrunkWooky Analysis: There’s no way Sabe can escape Palpatine, right? This is the end of the road. In other news, it looks like a new series of Anniversary variants is starting up: A New Hope 45th Anniversary by Greg Land. Kind of a weird anniversary to celebrate, but I suppose they have to do something to fill the gap before Return of the Jedi’s 40th next year. Who knows if these will be as popular as the Sprouse Lucasfilm 50th or Choose Your Destiny Variants, but we’ll see. Those regular covers by Rahzzah and Rod Reis are absolutely stunning examples of some Grade A premium evil Emperor! Love it.

Star Wars: A New Hope 45th Anniversary Variant cover by GREG LAND

DESOLATION!

  • The spark undying lives in Doctor Aphra’s body, and as its power grows, so does its hunger!
  • But Aphra’s plotting her own escape…!
  • As everyone flocks to the Vermillion, their showdown will change everything!

DrunkWooky Analysis: Doctor Aphra just continues to get more and more interesting! If Alyssa Wong can stick the landing on this Spark Eternal story arc (and I have every confidence she can!) this will be a classic Aphra story to go back and revisit!

That’s all for now! Keep your eyes peeled for pre-orders to go live later this week at TFAW! Also, keep your eyes peeled for Dark Horse solicits later this week as well!

More later!

Good morning! Is Lop & Ocho coming to marvel comics or is the Big Gangan Vol 07 first appearance the only comic that has been announced for Lop & Ocho?

First and only announced so far. The Marvel Visions title starts in September and is solicited to follow Ronin on further adventures. So far, no news about that title exploring other Visions stories.
