Hello there and welcome to the weekly new Star Wars comics post where I break down all new comics, books, whatever that will come out next week as well as all Star Wars comics with a final order cutoff next Monday!

Star Wars: Darth Vader #38 by Greg Pak and Raffaele Ienco – The scourge shifts it’s focus to Darth Vader! Not a ton of speculation from me on this issue. The droids attack the Executor and Piett / Vader work together to retain hold of the ship. Should be gloriously ridiculous and the type of story that comics were built on.
Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi #1 by Jody Houser and Salvador Larocca – This issue is the first of 6 comics adapting the Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series into comic form. This means that this will be the first appearance of Reva Sevander aka The Third Sister in a traditional comic. I always like to exercise caution when speculating on first appearances in adaptations. On one hand, it is a first appearance. On the other hand… it will catch no one by surprise. And the character has likely made her biggest live-action appearance so it will be difficult to rebuild hype on this appearance. But at the same time for collectors who collect all first appearances, you’ll want to grab this one.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian – The Manga Volume 1 by Yusuke Osawa – This is a Manga adaptation of the first season of The Mandalorian. We’ve had other adaptations but if you’re a Manga fan and want to see how a Manga artist draws Grogu and Mando, have at it.
Star Wars: Sana Starros TPB – I was a pretty vocal supporter of this series by Justina Ireland and Pere Perez and still feel like it’s a fantastic mini-series. A nice compact story that adds a whole lot of depth to a fan-favorite character. I’ll be getting this for a re-read. This is the entire purpose of trade paperbacks, right?

Star Wars Comic Book FOC Deadlines
For those who aren’t familiar, FOC, or Final Order Cut Off, is when publishers and distributors require retailers to get their orders in. Printers then print according to that number (sometimes with overages). So, if you want to absolutely guarantee you get a book, the best bet is to order it before FOC. Final Order Cut Off is Monday 9/11/23 this week.
