Funko Expands Offerings into Strategy Board Games with Pop! Funkoverse!

Even the most ardent of Funko Pop! fans was probably thinking that continuing to license every single intellectual property on the face of the planet couldn’t be the ultimate endgame for Funko. There must be more that can be done with the Pop! line, right!?

Well, Funko have been putting their new Pop! Funkoverse strategy boardgames through demos at conventions this summer and have finally launched the product at retail.

The first wave of Funkoverse board games kicks off with Harry Potter and DC Comics Base sets. These base sets come with 4 exclusive pop figurines each. It’s a bit ambiguous from the official product info, but it looks like the “Expandolone” sets come with 2 exclusive Pop figurines and expand upon the base sets. They can be played as their own standalone game also, though. Interesting. This will need some play testing. The Expandolone packs include Harry Potter, DC Comics, Rick & Morty, and inexplicably Golden Girls because why the hell not!?
