Today’s the day! My Kickstarter for Star Wars silver age style comic book art prints (and more) from one of my favorite artists out there, @DGVLZB goes live today at Noon ET. You may not know the name but I know you’ve seen his art. He’s one of the best in the game.

Welcome!

This project is for retro comic book art prints, t-shirts, and more, to celebrate our love of Star Wars combined with an appreciation silver age comic book style art that has become so iconic over the last 60+ years.

Also, this is the start of a passion project for me. I’ve spent years grinding out work in my day job. Long hours, stress, and more responsibility than I probably deserved. And I’ve been successful as a result of that hard work. But this year I’ve decided to make time for building relationships with incredibly talented people to partner with me on some creative projects to create some cool things for very cool people.

This Kickstarter is the start of that journey.

A healthy portion (potentially all) of the money made from this campaign will be put into making Drunk Wooky even better. Starting with a website redesign to make it more modern-looking and provide a better user experience.

What the kriff is Drunk Wooky?

If we’re just now becoming friends… here’s the gist.

Drunkwooky is a Star Wars focused blog from a real live Star Wars fan that shares everything you need to know about Star Wars comics, Star Wars books, Star Wars art, and Star Wars toys.

What started as a way for me to get all of my thoughts out about a franchise and a hobby that I love has quickly grown into something bigger with 10,000-20,000 visitors every month to the site. And there are still a ton of opportunities that I have not had the time or energy to tackle that will help me grow it much much bigger.

My goal with drunkwooky.com is to provide a positive place for collectors and fans to get information on everything Star Wars related that is coming out, order deadlines, exclusive variants and merchandise, discounts, etc. so they can make the right purchase decisions for themselves based on the way they collect.

All done in an authentic way that does not compromise my integrity or your trust. I’m just a dude who likes Star Wars and wants to talk with other people who like Star Wars too.

About the Art

The art used for the art prints and t-shirt were created by popular fan artist @dvglzv. He creates amazing retro comic art for all Marvel and Star Wars TV shows, movies, and more. He’s karkin’ incredible.

The Drunk Wooky #1 art was commissioned by me to create 6 different “implied comics.” Meaning, at this time, there is no plan to create a full comic book BUT I do have a story laid out for all 6 issues that will be loosely told using cover art over the next year based on artist availability. And who knows?? If this goes well maybe I’ll find an artist to help me bring the books to life.

The art for The Clone Wars, The Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, The Bad Batch, Ahsoka, and Obi-Wan Kenobi was purchased by me with permission to use in this Kickstarter campaign. Thank the stars for that.

Pledge Now, Pay Later

Kickstarter doesn’t charge backers until after the campaign ends on March 21st. So if you’re not sure what tier you’d like with your pledge, I’d suggest going big to start. Hitting my goal quickly will help me get the attention of the Kickstarter staff and other backers. Which will unlock more stretch goal prizes for everyone! You can always modify your pledge before the campaign is over if you change your mind.
