There has been some movement in regards to Charles Soule’s already hugely popular 4-part mini-series, Star Wars: The High Republic – The Blade that tells us more about Jedi’s Porter Engle and Barash Silvain.
Issue #2 introduced five new characters and this has caused listings for the books to dry up at comic stores across the country as collectors and speculators scoop them up. So much that Marvel has officially announced a 2nd printing of Star Wars: The High Republic The Blade #2 that will hit stores on March 15, 2023.
We don’t have the official art and there are no pre-orders up at the moment since this just officially happened but be sure to check out the High Republic Phase II checklist for the most up-to-date list of all variants.
But that’s not the only update for this run.
For a few months now, Star Wars: The High Republic – The Blade #4 has had a Black History month variant from artist Mateus Manhanini listed in the solicits for the issue. Which was odd since Black History month is February and that issue comes out in March. I had initially figured that it was just delayed to allow the artist more time to complete the art but now I’m less sure.
That’s because in a recent announcement by Marvel, they revealed that Star Wars: The High Republic – The Blade #4 was going to have a Women’s History Month variant by artist Peach Momoko featuring Barash Silvain. The odd part there was that there was no Women’s History Month variant listed for that issue. Well… until this morning. Now issue #4 lists both a Women’s History Month variant AND a Black History Month variant.
No clue if they are doubling up that month and including both. If the Black History Month Variant has been moved to February where it should have been? Or if there is no Black History month variant for that issue at all and it was always an error?
I’ll be keeping an eye on it over the coming days to figure out the truth. Follow @drunkwooky on Instagram for all updates regarding Star Wars books and comics.
I’ll post an update once I have it.
Until then… for light and life my friends.
