Hello and good day everywookiee! Earlier today StarWars.com released the exclusive preview for next week’s issue of Star Wars #29 by Charles Soule and it takes a turn that I never expected.
We know from recent issues that the Rebel Alliance are having supply chain issues (welcome to the club guys) and that Amalyn Holdo has been tasked with making sure the Rebels have all of the weapons, coaxium, tibana gas, and credits that they need.
In the preview Luke, Leia, and Holdo are at an auction that sells antiquities and the auctioneers (the same two headed species that called the Bunta Eve Podrace on Tatooine in the Phantom Menace) announce that one of the last remaining Nihil (yeah, from the High Republic) Strikeships in existence are up for auction.
Holdo says that the strikeship will allow them to find a treasure trove of tibana gas and coaxium (used to fuel blasters and ships) in a long lost group of tankerships that Leia referenced as the “Kezarat Convoy.” This name didn’t rang a bell and the almighty Wookieepedia had nothing on at either. Meaning it’s not an easter egg to something we know about.
Regardless, apparently people have been searching for this convoy for for a LONG TIME with no luck because they didn’t have a Nihil ship.
To me this is confirmation that the “Kezarat Convoy” is in No Space a.k.a. where the Nihil headquarters was. Check out this panel from Star Wars The High Republic #12.
No-Space, like hyperspace, is an alternate dimension of sorts to realspace but unlike hyperspace did not accelerate a ships travel time. Instead it stood completely still. Like a hidden pocket inside of realspace that no one could see.
The only way to get there was with the Nihil paths that Mari San Tekka created and loaded into the Nihil warships.
This would explain why no one has found it. Because they did not have a way to know how to get there as the only people who have been there are the long gone Nihil and Jedi.
But are the Nihil really gone? Or is a faction of the Nihil trapped in No-Space? The cover of the 1:25 retailer incentive variant of Star Wars #30 shows Luke battling with Nihil and the publisher summary confirms what I’ve said above.
We’re going to No-Space. And the Nihil are still there.
I’m a massive High Republic fan so this has me super excited. Should be a ton of fun.
Check check out the full preview and all variants of Star Was #29 below. Also be sure to get your pre-orders in over at TFAW.
