Fake wife of Han Solo and real lover to Doctor Aphra, Sana Starros is getting her own Marvel Star Wars Comic Mini Series in February 2023. The series will be written by Justina Ireland (who also wrote The High Republic Path of Deceit. The YA novel that hit stores last week.)
Honestly it’s about damn time.
Since Sana first appeared in the main Star Wars run by Jason Aaron in 2015 (Star Wars #4 is her first full appearance) she has been a regular in both the main Star Wars runs and both volumes of Doctor Aphra. She’s been a key player in the galaxy far away for nearly 7 years now.
It seems to be a forgone conclusion that Doctor Aphra will show up in live action one day but I find it hard to believe that, assuming that happens, Sana wont be right there with her.
Really looking forward to this one.
Check out some preliminary covers and interior art below.
It’s also interesting that one of the Star Wars: High Republic authors is creating this story. The Starros family plays a huge role in the events of The High Republic Phase 1.
Ghirra Starros is a Senator in the Galactic Republic Senate during The High Republic and feeds her lover, Marchion Ro, intel that allows him to bring down the Starlight Beacon. Killing many Jedi in the process.
She is also mother to aspiring inventor, Avon Starros, who is one of the characters in young reader book, The High Republic: A Test of Courage. Also written by Justina Ireland.
In that book she is accompanying Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh and her Padawan Imri Canteros to a dedication ceremony on The Starlight Beacon before explosives’ damaged their ship and they had to land on the jungle moon of Wevo.
This has me wondering if we are going to get the backstory as to how the Starros family went from a ruling family in The High Republic Era… to Sana Starros being a rogue bounty hunter / thief / smuggler turned Rebel.
Stay tuned for more updates.
