UPDATE 3/18/22: Pre-orders for open order covers are live at TFAW.

Starwars.com has revealed the slate of Star Wars comic offerings from Marvel this morning and we’ve got them below! There’s a smattering of analysis on the side from us as well! Check it out!

No pre-orders live for these yet, but we’ll give you a heads. Keep your eyes peeled on TFAW until then!

For the first time, THE MANDALORIAN arrives in comics!

  • The Mandalorian bounty hunter tracks a target for a well-paying, mysterious client.
  • Witness the introduction of Din Djarin and the first meeting between the Mandalorian and the Child!

Starwars.com stated that: “The Mandalorian will be an eight-issue, episode-by-episode adaptation.” So, we can reasonably reckon who’s going to make first appearances by looking at who showed up in the episodes as they correlate to the issue numbers. For issue 1:

The Variant covers are exciting, particularly that JTC Action Figure variant!

STAR WARS: HAN SOLO & CHEWBACCA #4

MARC GUGGENHEIM (W) • DAVID MESSINA (A) • Cover by PHIL NOTO
Variant Cover by NIC KLEIN
Choose Your Destiny Variant Cover by CHRIS SPROUSE
Pride Variant Cover by JAVIER GARRON

OH…SHYRIIWOOK!

  • HARROO! RHOO AAHH! HRRG!!! (TRANSLATION: It’s a Chewbacca-centric special issue as Chewie fights to rescue his friend Han.)
  • HRRARRARGH AAHHRA HUGGG! (TRANSLATION: Guest-starring the one-and-only KRRSANTAN!)
  • RRRAHARRR RAAA HRRRA! (TRANSLATION: You don’t want to miss this one!)

This issue should be a lot of fun. Guggenheim has stated in interviews that the whole book will be in the Wookiee native language Shyriiwook! I mean, I’m up for that of course. Capitalizing on Krrsantan’s popularity after his appearance in Book of Boba Fett. Krrsantan first appeared in Darth Vader #1 (Marvel 2015).

Looks like Sprouse is starting up a new set of theme variants, the “Choose Your Destiny Variants.”

STAR WARS: OBI-WAN KENOBI #2 (OF 5)

CHRISTOPHER CANTWELL (W) • LUKE ROSS (A) • Cover by PHIL NOTO
Choose Your Destiny Variant Cover by CHRIS SPROUSE

Another set of “Pride” variants are coming our way this year for Pride Month.

STAR WARS: THE HALCYON LEGACY #5 (OF 5)

“LAST STAND ON THE HALCYON

  • Star-crossed lovers who crossed the wrong syndicate try to escape on the Halcyon
  • But even in the chaos of the early days of the New Republic, can they evade a murderers’ row of bounty hunters stalking them – including BOSSK?
  • And years in the future, the pirate CRIMSON JACK closes in on the legendary Galactic Starcruiser.

We all love Bossk! What an unapologetic creep! He first appeared in comics in a digest size Marvel Illustrated Empire Strikes Back. Made his first magazine comic cameo in Empire Strikes Back Weekly 127, with his first magazine comic cover being Empire Strikes Back Weekly 129. Finally, he made his first traditional comic book cameo and cover appearance in Star Wars 42 alongside Boba Fett!

A Celebration across the Galaxy for STAR WARS’ 25th issue!

  • With stories set from the Prequel to the Sequel eras, experience new tales of OBI-WAN & ANAKIN, DARTH VADER, POE DAMERON and KYLO REN. Join Charles Soule, along with his previous artistic collaborators, for this era-spanning celebration!

The Inquisitor, Seventh Sister, makes a cover appearance here, implying she’ll show up inside the comic with the Grand Inquisitor. Of course, interest in these characters has gone up since their appearance in the Obi-Wan teaser trailer released last week.

Seventh Sister first appeared in comics in Rebels Magazine #16 in the UK and Europe (March 2016). These are somewhat difficult to come by, especially in good condition. So, it’s a good thing they are being reprinted in the United States for the first time in the Dark Horse Rebels Graphic Novel. Then she made a first cameo in a traditional comic book in Darth Vader #6 (2017) and first appeared on the cover of a traditional comic book on Darth Vader #7 (2017). Seventh Sister then made two more background appearances without dialogue in Darth Vader #19 (2017) and Darth Vader #20 (2017). She’s yet to have a major role in a traditional comic book format, so her first appearance/cameo designation is always likely to be muddy among collectors.

Charles Soule has been making a big deal about this issue on his social media, website, and newsletters. He said he was “getting the band back together.” Now it seems he was speaking about both the artists and the subject matter. Looks like this 25th issue will be oversized and span all the different canon eras Soule has written comics in. There may be some key events in the book, but no indications of that yet. I guess we’ll have to wait to see.
