A New Poe Dameron Adventure Takes Flight with Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories – Codebreaker

Star Wars Hyperspace Stories Codebreaker Featuring Poe Dameron

Dark Horse Comics just dropped an announcement that has me—and probably a lot of Star Wars fans—ready to strap in for another wild ride. Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories is coming back in April 2025 with a fresh mini-series, Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories – Codebreaker, starring none other than Poe Dameron and his ever-sassy, beepy sidekick, BB-8.

This isn’t just another Poe mission; it’s also a nod to the 10-year anniversary of The Force Awakens. (Yes, that movie is 10 years old now. We’re old af.)

This time around, writer Ethan Sacks, known for his work on Star Wars: Bounty Hunters, is diving into the cocky-yet-charming world of Poe Dameron. Artists Marc Yarza (Werewolf Frankenstein) and Jose Marzan Jr. (Y: The Last Man) are handling the visuals, with Nicola Righi (Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories) providing the colors. The whole package sounds like a Resistance-worthy team-up to me.

The Story

Here’s the scoop: Poe and BB-8 are sent on a mission to retrieve some First Order tech that’s been decoding Resistance messages. But, in true Poe Dameron fashion, it’s not going to be a simple in-and-out job. Standing in their way is a notorious TIE fighter pilot, and the story promises a mix of daring aerial dogfights, BB-8 hijinks, and, I’m guessing, at least one moment where Poe tries to charm his way out of trouble.

If you’re a fan of the Poe-centric Marvel Comics series from a few years back (shoutout to Charles Soule’s excellent run on Poe Dameron), this feels like a natural continuation of that same vibe.

The confident, wise-cracking ace pilot with a penchant for getting himself into (and somehow out of) hot water? Yes, please.

Why I’m Excited

I’ll admit, I’ve got a soft spot for Poe Dameron. Marvel’s Poe Dameron series really cemented him as one of my favorite Star Wars characters. It wasn’t just the humor or the action—it was the depth it added to a guy who could have just been the “cool pilot dude” from the movies.

If Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories – Codebreaker can bring a fraction of that charm and excitement, I’m absolutely here for it. Plus, BB-8 in a comic means we’re probably getting some adorable droid moments. (I live for those.)

I’m also intrigued by the creative team. Ethan Sacks has proven he can handle gritty, high-stakes storytelling, and I’m curious to see how that meshes with the lighter, adventurous tone Poe often brings to the table. Combine that with the gorgeous cover variants lined up from artists like Sean Gordon Murphy and Pye Parr, and this mini-series feels like it’s shaping up to be a visual treat, too.

Final Thoughts

While I don’t want to overhype it before it even hits shelves, Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories – Codebreaker sounds like the kind of Star Wars story I’ll gladly dive into. Whether you’re here for the dogfights, the espionage, or just to see Poe being the lovable mess he is, there’s a lot to look forward to.

So, mark your calendars for April 9, 2025. It’s going to be fun to see what trouble Poe and BB-8 get themselves into this time. And if you’re like me—still rewatching The Force Awakens with nostalgic delight—this could be the perfect way to celebrate a decade of sequels, Resistance antics, and that “who talks first” charm.

Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to launch. May the Force (and the star charts) be with you!
