Mark your calendars, Wooks! Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) 2025 will be here before you know it on May 3, 2025, and Marvel Comics just announced a their FCBD issue for you to pick up at your local shop with Free Comic Book Day 2025: Star Wars #1.
This year’s Star Wars FCBD issue looks like a banger for fans of every generation, offering a glimpsethree different eras of the Star Wars comic book universe. Here’s what you can look forward to:
- The mysterious Vanee, a former servant of Darth Vader with a tragic past, steps into the spotlight with connections to both Darth Vader and Kylo Ren.
- Luke Skywalker finds himself squaring off with space pirates in a classic “scum and villainy” setting. My hope is that this is in the New Republic but based on the cover it most likely happens right before or during The Return of the Jedi.
- Qui-Gon Jinn and Tensu Run are tracking the dangerous Corlis Rath, adding more lore to the prequel-era Jedi adventures. Corlis Rath is a new character.
The powerhouse creative team behind this issue includes writers Alex Segura, Charles Soule, and Marc Guggenheim, with stunning art from Phil Noto, Luke Ross, Stefano Raffaele, and Madibek Musabekov. The cover, beautifully crafted by Phil Noto, shows the tragic lineage of Qui-Gon Jinn.
No announcement yet on whether or not Dark Horse Comics will have an all-ages FCBD book, but I’d be shocked if they didn’t. Hoping for an announcement there soon.
May the force be with you my friends,
-Frik
