Kylo Ren’s journey isn’t over yet, and Marvel has just revealed what’s next for the conflicted Supreme Leader. Coming in February 2025, Star Wars: Legacy of Vader, a new ongoing comic series written by Charles Soule with art by Luke Ross, will explore Kylo Ren’s growing obsession with his grandfather, Darth Vader, and how it shapes his role as the leader of the First Order.

This series picks up between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, a pivotal point in Kylo’s story where he has taken control of the First Order but is still grappling with his inner turmoil.
Soule, known for his work on The Rise of Kylo Ren and Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith, is set to explore Kylo’s struggle to live up to Vader’s legacy while managing the complex emotions surrounding his family’s past.
According to Soule, Kylo is at a low point in his life during this period. He’s just come out of intense battles with two of his key mentors (including his uncle, Luke Skywalker), killed his father, and is still dealing with the emotional weight of nearly killing his mother.

On top of that, he has assumed control of a galaxy-wide military force that he isn’t entirely sure how to wield. This instability, anger, and confusion will lead Kylo to Mustafar, where he descends into Vader’s castle, seeking answers from the past.
The story will also take Kylo to Tatooine, as he attempts to uncover more of his family’s history and figure out what role it plays in shaping his future. Soule has mentioned that this series builds on themes from his previous works, particularly his exploration of characters in transitional periods, and promises to delve into new territory for both Kylo and the Star Wars timeline.
Artist Luke Ross, who previously worked on Darth Vader (2020) and War of the Bounty Hunters, will bring the series to life. The first issue will feature a cover by Derrick Chew, along with variant covers by artists like Annie Wu and E.M. Gist.
Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #1 will release on February 5, 2025, and promises to be a significant addition to the ongoing exploration of Kylo Ren’s character and his connection to the dark side.
