Hey there everywookiee! Hope everyone had a great weekend! I come to you today with a real interesting update on a real odd situation.
So, a few weeks back Ludicrous Speed Collectibles announced that their exclusives for The Mandalorian #2 (Shalvey), #3 (McCrea), and #4 (Duursema) had been canceled by Marvel because the store could not fulfill its contract and pay for the 4,000 books prior to printing.
Which was a bummer because their exclusive variants for #2 and #3 were some of my favorites of the series thus far. More details on refund status at the bottom of this post but if you have questions be sure to reach out to the store directly.
But, there’s more…
Star Wars The Mandalorian #1 Green Dot Variant?
Aside from that, owner Jeff Parsons, noticed that their retailer exclusive for Star Wars The Mandalorian #1 by artist John McCrea had a printing error on all 1,000 of the virgin variants they received.
Every single one of the virgin variants had a small green dot next to the blaster in Din Djarin’s hand. I checked my set and can confirm that it’s there. Minor, but there.
I personally probably would have never even noticed but once you see it it’s hard to miss. Here’s what Ludicrous Speed Collectibles said in their update.
Our Mandalorian 1 John McCrea virgin variants have a printing error. There is a green ink spot to the left of his gun that is not on the artwork or the trade dress. Marvel is reprinting our entire run of virgin variants. Customers who have already received this “green dot” error can contact us for a replacement, or keep the one they have. We have decided to destroy 750 of the remaining green dot variants, and 250 of the new correct books. There will be 250 of the green dot variants out there, vs 750 of the correct art. The new books are scheduled to arrive along with the Mandalorian 1 2nd print (they reprinted mine at the same time), on the 8/31.
So if you were one of the 200-250 people who purchased previously you’ll technically have one of the more rare covers of The Mandalorian #1 out there.
Now, will this impact value? Does this misprint make this a sought after collectible? No clue.
I’m not implying that it will or will not. I for one like misprints just because they’re odd and usually have a story behind them.
But not everyone will care. It’s your call if you want it or not.
Canceled Jam Duursema Exclusive Variant For The Mandalorian #4 Is Back In Business
Also in the update, Ludicrous Speed Collectibles mentioned that they will be able to fulfill every order for their canceled Jan Duursema variant for Star Wars The Mandalorian #4 as another store has picked up the variant.
I’ve actually known this for a few weeks but had been asked to keep it quiet. But for now know that if you wanted that variant you’ll still be able to get it.
News on that soon.
Other Updates On Refunds, Ratios, Etc.
Also for anyone who’s still waiting on a refund for The Mandalorian #2 or #3, here’s the official update on the Ludicrous Speed Collectibles website with the details:
- As was previously announced, our exclusives for Mandalorian 2, 3 and 4 have been cancelled. We have, however, arranged with the shop that took over the Duursema #4 to purchase a % of that run. So we will still be honoring all orders for the Duursema #4. people who purchased 2 and 3 will have the option of a #4 replacement, store credit, or a refund.
- Our Mandalorian 1 John McCrea virgin variants have a printing error.
- The vast majority of our Mandalorian 1 1:25 have printing defects. We shipped a bunch before it was noticed. There are subtle creases on the back cover that you can only see shining light across them. We have over 100 damaged here, and only a small number undamaged, so if you bought one from us, there’s a good chance its damaged. Please check. We do have a limited number of replacements, but being a ratio, Marvel could not replace our damaged ones. so once we’re out of replacements, you can get a store credit or refund.
- Since we did not get our Mandalorian 2 exclusive, we also did not get the accompanying ratios. We have a few, and will fill the 1:50 orders in the order we received them. After that we will be offering credit, or refunds.
- I thank you for your patience as we had a lot going on here in a very small period of time, and its been a little overwhelming. Rest assured we are doing our best to get everything taken care of and if you have not heard from us yet, you will be in the next couple days.
Super odd situation but one that we’ll keep you guys updated on.
Grand Admiral Frik.
