Funko Announce MAD TV Alfred E. Neuman Pop! Vinyl Figure

by DrunkWooky

To be honest, Mad Magazine provided some of my favorite Star Wars comics of all time. Any real fan enjoys a good spoof to remind them not to take their fandom too seriously.

Funko have announced their next Pop Vinyl figure, the MAD TV Alfred E. Neuman Pop! Vinyl Figure. With a chance at a “Chase” tongue-sticking-out figure, this POP! retails for $10.99 and is scheduled to release June 2021. You can grab it at Entertainment Earth.

If Funko could somehow swing getting both the MAD Magazine license and the Star Wars license to produce some of Neuman’s Star Wars personas, that would be a home run in my mind. I’d be tempted to get an Alfred E. Neuman Darth Maul.

MAD Magazine has a long history with Star Wars dating all the way back to issue #196 from January 1978, spoofin Episode IV: A New Hope. In spite of some derogatory slurs towards Threepio which haven’t aged well, this symbiotic relationship has brought the Star Wars property into contact with some of the great caricature and comedic comics artists of all comics history including Harry North, Esq. and Sergio Aragones!

At any rate, thanks for allowing me this tortured stretch to connect Funko news to the main theme of this blog! Check out some excerpts and covers from MAD’s Star Wars parodying history below!
