20 Years Later, Revenge of the Sith Returns To Theaters to Kick Jedi Ass in 4DX

Star Wars Revenge of the Sith is Returning to Theaters

Well, slap me with a bottle of Corellian whiskey and call me a nerf herder, because Lucasfilm just dropped an ion bomb that’s got my blaster buzzing. (sorry that sentence is a mess :)) Today, February 25, 2025, they announced Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith is returning theaters starting April 25 for its 20th anniversary.

Two decades since Anakin went full dark side and made us all cry as the order burned? Yep, that’ll do.

Here’s what we know right now…

It’ll Be An Interactive Experience

This isn’t just a lazy re-release. It’s a one-week stint from April 25 to May 1, hitting select U.S. screens and some overseas spots too. The flick that gave us Vader’s first wheeze and Obi-Wan’s high ground sass is getting its big-screen victory lap.

Twenty years since May 19, 2005, when Lucas unloaded this gut-puncher and showed the Jedi getting smoked. Whether you’re an old-timer who ditched class for it or a Disney+ Acolyte, it’s your shot to see the biggest duel in Star Wars on the big screen for maybe the last time IRL.

They’re tossing in a 4DX version too, first time ever. Moving chairs, wind, maybe a splash of water when Anakin cries about sand. Imagine feeling the Clone Wars rumble while Palpatine cackles.

A new experience with a familiar story. That’s the kind of stuff that I’m happy to pay extra for.

Poster Slaps, Movie Still Rules

Matt Ferguson, the guy who nailed Phantom Menace’s re-release art, cooked up a fresh poster. Vader’s helmet looms big, Anakin’s glare as he heads into the Jedi Temple, Obi-Wan’s swinging, and Coruscant’s burning like a bad night. He calls it his trickiest gig yet, and it’s a frame-worthy tribute to the prequel’s grit.

Why’s this film still king for many fans?

Even though Episode I is my personal favorite, Revenge of the Sith is the prequel with teeth. Clone Wars mayhem, Order 66 heartbreak, Palpatine playing puppet master. Hayden Christensen turns Vader, Ewan McGregor yells “You were my brother,” and Natalie Portman fades out, tragic or cheesy, pick your poison.

This movie bangs and I cannot wait to take my kids to see it in the theaters.

How to Get Tickets?

After Phantom Menace lit up theaters last year, Lucasfilm’s keeping the prequel train rolling.

With Mando movies simmering in the background, this drop feels like a high-five to fans who’ve hung in there.

Tickets aren’t live yet, but they will probably be hitting Fandango or AMC’s site around mid-late March. Regal’s already pumping it up, so there should be options. One-week run only, so don’t snooze on this one.
