Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has been a refreshing addition to the galaxy far, far away, introducing audiences to new planets, characters, and mysteries that feel deeply rooted in Star Wars lore.
At the heart of the series lies the enigmatic At-Attin, a planet shrouded in secrecy and tied to some of the galaxy’s most intriguing locations. As the series progresses, At-Attin’s strategic significance and connections to the Mandoverse grow clearer, promising ripple effects across the broader Star Wars narrative.
What’s Happened So Far?
Without doing a full recap of what has happened thus far, here are the key events that have happend as it relates to this pot and where where we currently stand prior to Ep. 7 of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
- After escaping a prison cell on Port Borgo with the help of Jod, the squad heads to the home of an owl looking astronomer named Kh’ymm.
- Kh’ymm explains the legend of At-Attin and “Jewells of the Old Republic”, a series of 9 planets that held great importance to the Old Republic and were hidden in someway.
- The kids get coordinates to what ends up being At-Achrann but it’s a dystopian mess and At-Attin’s coordinates have been destroyed by Tak Rennod and SM-33 a long time ago.
- SM-33 takes Jod and the kids to Tak Rennod’s lair on Lanupa, a vacation planet. The lair is underneath a luxury spa. There they get the coordinates to At-Attin and knowledge that it has the last old-republic mint in the galaxy.
- Jod betrays the kids, gets captured by the pirates, and then sways them to go to At-Attin to plunder the place and take the mint for their own use.
- The kids then eventually get back to the Onyx Cinder, almost die, but then head off to At-Attin to be reunited with their parents.
That’s where we are currently at. The remaining intrigue is all around the location of At-Attin and what it’s purpose will be moving forward.
This setup has placed the children, their families, and their adversaries on a collision course as the show approaches its thrilling finale.
A Redditor with the handle u/edu_secco created a thread in the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew subreddit claiming to have translated the coordinates to both At-Attin and At-Achrann that we see in the tower on episode 4 and in Tak Rennod’s lair in episode 5.
The rest of the post is under the assumption that that user was correct.
The Coordinates of At-Attin Paint an Interesting Picture
The precise coordinates of At-Attin (285.91, 375.30) place it in the Quelli Sector, a region rich in lore and conflict. This strategic location puts At-Attin in close proximity to several pivotal planets:
Cathar (284.579, 374.828): At-Attin’s coordinates are nearly identical to Cathar’s, suggesting a deep connection between the two. They’re basically right next to eachother. Cathar is a planet scarred by the Mandalorian Wars and home to legendary Jedi like Juhani (Knights of the Old Republic) and Sylvar (Tales of the Jedi comic series).
The shared coordinates could indicate intertwined histories, possibly tied to Jedi artifacts, Old Republic relics, or even the Old Republic Mint on At-Attin.
Taris: Known for its towering cityscapes and tiered societal structure, Taris was a beacon of wealth during the Old Republic era. However, its glory was cut short during the Jedi Civil War when Darth Malak, in his relentless pursuit of Bastila Shan, ordered an orbital bombardment that razed the planet’s surface.
The destruction left Taris in ruins, its economy shattered, and its population struggling for survival amidst the rubble. Despite its fall, Taris remains a symbol of the fleeting nature of power and prosperity in the galaxy.
Given its proximity, At-Attin could have been a source of Taris’s wealth before its downfall, providing resources, goods, or even strategic knowledge that helped fuel the planet’s prosperity.
Proximity to Dathomir and Mandalore: A Nexus of Power
Mandalore: This is where things get really interesting as it relates to possible connections to current storylines. Recently reclaimed by Bo-Katan Kryze and the Mandalorian coverts, Mandalore is undergoing a rebirth.
With Din Djarin pledging to patrol the surrounding sectors on behalf of the New Republic (and Zeb!), At-Attin’s eventual conflict could soon catch the attention of The New Republic and The Mandalorian, creating a nexus of Mandalorian, New Republic, Ahsoka, and Thrawn-related storylines.
And it make sense right? Vane, the pirate who escaped from Nevarro in The Mandalorian, has already appeared in Skeleton Crew, further linking the shows.
Dathomir: Known for the Nightsisters and their dark magick version of the force, Dathomir has become a focal point in the Mandoverse.
Grand Admiral Thrawn, now allied with the Nightsisters from Peridea, is last seen arriving at Dathomir. At-Attin’s proximity makes it a potential target for Thrawn’s ambitions, especially since Thrawn will need resources to rebuild his version of The Empire. At the moment he has the support of the Shadow Council as seen in The Mandalorian Season 3. But outside of that he’s got a broken down Chimera and very few foot soldiers.
If Thrawn finds hears of the planet’s location it would be a massive resource for him to rebuild his forces for the war to come.
At-Achrann, Mokivj, and more Thrawn Connections
While At-Achrann’s coordinates (-403.25, -593.33) place it across the galaxy, its location approximately half way between Mokivj and Batuu makes it no less significant.
Mokivj, introduced in Thrawn: Alliances, was a significant location that posed a great threat to the galaxy. During the Clone Wars it was used to mine-cortosis by the Seperatists, a material that is lightsaber resistant. And, later, was a hub of The Grysk, a threat from outside of the known galaxy that were reaking havoc in the unknown regions.
At-Achrann’s proximity to Mokivj and Batuu, planets very familiar to Thrawn, could make it more likely that he uncovers the planet and the location of the other eight Jewells of the Old Republic.
Batuu’s role as a gateway to the Unknown Regions further reinforces the importance of At-Achrann. If the First Order and/or Thrawn’s forces are operating in this area, At-Achrann might serve as a crucial bridge between the known galaxy and the uncharted territories where the First Order was slowly growing it’s forces.
So what does this all mean?
At-Attin’s introduction in Skeleton Crew could serve as the perfect narrative bridge to explain how the First Order was able to rise from a scattered remnant of the Empire into the galaxy-dominating force seen in the Sequel Trilogy.
The rumored Old Republic Mint on At-Attin, capable of producing unlimited credits, offers a plausible and compelling explanation for the First Order’s vast resources. Hidden behind At-Attin’s nebula or cloaking technology, the mint could have remained untouched for centuries, waiting for the right party to exploit its potential.
The strategic placement of At-Attin near Dathomir and Mandalore further teases Grand Admiral Thrawn as the key to unlocking this plan. With his alliance with the Nightsisters and his reputation as a master tactician, Thrawn is perfectly positioned to locate At-Attin and capitalize on its resources. Thrawn’s intellect and meticulous strategy would allow him to integrate the mint’s output into his broader vision, using it to rebuild his fleet and align the First Order’s forces.
This setup would not only solidify Thrawn’s connection to the First Order’s emergence but also provide a direct link between the Mandoverse and the Sequel Trilogy. As At-Attin’s secrets come to light, its role in shaping the galaxy’s future could mark it as the catalyst for the First Order’s ultimate transformation.
Predictions for Episodes 7 and 8 of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
In the final episodes of Skeleton Crew, At-Attin’s secrets are likely to take center stage.
Episode 7: “Navigating the Shadows”
I think this is a parent focused episode. Specifically Fern’s mother, Fara. Fara is an Undersecretary on At-Attin and appears to have some level of prominence in the At-Attin workforce.
She’ll likely be the key for the parents on At-Attin to secure a meeting with and confront “The Supervisor,” possibly uncovering the truth behind the planet’s isolation and what the hell is actually going on there.
Meanwhile, Fern, KB, Wim, and Neel will be aboard the Onyx Cinder racing toward At-Attin, trying to get there before Jod, Brutus and the pirate fleet do.
This episode will provide the needed context to add additional weight to the inevitable confrontation on At-Attin.
Episode 8: “The Hidden Treasure”
The treasure’s true nature is revealed, whether it’s the Old Republic Mint or something more profound, like Jedi relics or hidden knowlege. It’s probably the mint but I’m not ruling out that getting destroyed or being a red herring.
A massive battle ensues, involving the pirates and the Supervisor’s droid security forces. Jod faces a moment of redemption and finally shows off his lightsaber skills. Taking down the pirate fleet from inside. At some point we learn his backstory. My best guess is that he’s a Jedi who failed the trials and left the order prior to Order 66.
Then there will be some connective thread that directly ties Skeleton Crew to future media. Most likely a revelation that Sith Eternal or Imperial Remnant were running the show the whole time. Tough to say exactly. But I do think it point to Thrawn using At-Attin in the future.
Skeleton Crew Characters in Filoni’s Thrawn Movie?
Daniel Richtman, a leak guy, as said that several characters from Skeleton Crew are rumored to appear in Dave Filoni’s highly anticipated New Republic crossover movie, which will tie together storylines from The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and other Mandoverse series.
Jod is by far the most likely for two reasons:
- Jude Law is a huge name actor and would be a great person to help promote the Dave Filoni movie.
- Jod is force sensitive and could join Luke Skywalker’s jedi temple to help train new younglings.
I doubt the children play a large role unless there’s a serious time jump.
Final Thoughts: Skeleton Crew Is A Huge Win For Star Wars
This show has been a blasTThe coordinates of At-Attin and At-Achronn place these planets at the heart of key galactic mysteries, potentially tying into the rise of the First Order and the resurgence of Thrawn. As Skeleton Crew barrels toward its finale, these connections are setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion—and perhaps an even bigger role in the Mandoverse’s future.
With Dave Filoni’s crossover film looming on the horizon, it’s clear that Skeleton Crew is more than a standalone adventure. It’s a critical chapter in the expanding Star Wars saga, introducing characters and locations that could shape the galaxy for years to come. Keep your eyes on At-Attin—it might just be the hidden key to it all.
This show has been a blast and I cannot wait to see how it all plays out and just how absolutely WRONG I was in my predictions.
