Hey there, fellow Wooks! Marvel is gearing up to drop a brand-new Star Wars one-shot comic, Star Wars: A New Legacy, this coming January, and it’s loaded with all your favorite comic-original characters from the last decade. Yep, that means Doctor Aphra, Sana Starros, Valance, Beilert Valance, Black Krrsantant, Darth Momin—you name it, they’re all crashing the party!
But wait, there’s more. This one-shot is a special release marking the 10th anniversary of Star Wars #1 (2015), the issue that basically re-ignited Marvel’s Star Wars dominance after Disney bought Lucasfilm and handed the publishing license back to them.

And to celebrate, they’re bringing out the heavy hitters. Charles Soule, Jason Aaron, and Kieron Gillen—some of the biggest names in Star Wars comics over the last ten years—are teaming up to write brand-new stories for this special issue.
Here’s a little preview of what you can expect in Star Wars: A New Legacy:
- Charles Soule is taking us to Alderaan (pre-Boom Alderaan, I assume) for a lavish Imperial event where Palpatine is being honored by all the top Empire baddies. Naturally, Doctor Aphra and Sana Starros decide this is the perfect time for a heist, but Valance is right on their heels. Throw in some Sith artifacts and you’ve got a recipe for chaos!
- Jason Aaron is picking up where he left off with Scar Squadron, also known as Task Force 99—the elite stormtrooper squad that gave Luke and Leia nightmares. Aaron’s revisiting the crew, and it sounds like things have only gotten darker for this Vader-approved team.
- Kieron Gillen is going back to his roots, revisiting the early days of Darth Vader (2015) and his fan-favorite creation, Doctor Aphra. Expect some tense moments between Aphra and Vader, plus a dangerous little game involving 0-0-0, BT-1, and Krrsantan. Sounds like old wounds are getting ripped wide open.
