Star Wars: Darth Maul – Black, White, and Red #3 (of 4) by Erica Schultz and Leonard Kirk comes out this Wednesday, June 26th, 2024 and at the bottom of this post, you’ll find a 5-page preview from Marvel Comics showing the apprentice in action.

Not a lot of insight on this one since each issue is a new story but the preview does mention a new Devronian adversary for Darth Maul, Coir Cion. This is a new character and will be their first appearance. That being said, even though Devronians are pretty kriffin’ hard to kill, chances are Maul ends their story in this issue. This series is clearly all about showing the different trials that Maul is put under by Sidious to make him an elite warrior.
As for this mini-series, I’ve liked the first two issues a lot and think it’s been a big step up from Star Wars: Darth Vader – Black, White, and Red from last year. Last week’s face off with “the remainders” was a fantastic concept in my opinion. I wish Lucasfilm would consider using these stories for animated shorts.
The best cover for me is the David Marquez 1:25 (he’s kriffin good boi) and the best “spec” cover is probably the 1:100 but it’s a risky buy if you’re trying to eventually sell it without knowing what the story will be about or if any characters outside of Maul will survive.
