Since we saw our first clone soldier in Attack of the Clones Lucasfilm has fed us a steady diet of content around The Clone Wars and the clones themselves. And there’s one central theme in pretty much all of that material, the clones are not just mindless machines like the Battle Droids, they are individuals who’s experiences give them all distinct personalities.
That concept is hammered home by George Lucas and Dave Filoni in The Clone Wars show and continued throughout the comic books, novels, and other shows like The Bad Batch.
That’s exactly why I’m excited for this. Last month, Insight Editions announced a new in-universe reference book in their “Star Wars: Secrets of…” series called Star Wars: Secrets of the Clone Troopers that will explore the history of the Clones (troopers and otherwise) that we’ve gotten to know over the years in Star Wars.
Books like these, Including the most recent Secrets of the Wookiees book from last year, do a great job of taking the lore that is established in different mediums and combining them into a concise summary. While I read nearly every Star Wars book and comic it’s impossible to remember every little detail. These books fill that gap.
Star Wars: Secret’s of the Clone Troopers is written by Mark Sumarek (from the POV of Captain Rex) with art by Alberti Buscicchio and is currently set to release on September 10th, 2024.
There will be interactive elements to the book, similar to a children’s book, that include pop ups, hidden sections, folds, etc. It’s hard to type out the words to show what I mean but stuff in the book will be dangling off of the pages.
From what I can tell based on the publisher description (I’ll add that below) and the preview pages (also below) this book will not only cover the Clone Troopers but also unique clones like Omega and Boba Fett. Hoping for some Dr. Emerie Karr lore as well.
Side note: Why is her last name Karr? Is she named after Hondo Karr from Legends? I’ve genuinely never thought about this.
