In the most recent solicitation to retailers Dark Horse Comics announced a new comic book mini-series set in the High Republic era called Star Wars: The High Republic – Echoes of Fear.
Issue #1 is currently set to be released on August 21st, 2024. But since it’s pretty far out still, that may change.
They did not provide any details about the story or length of this mini-series aside from a few sentences in their publisher’s description of issue #1.

Based on that description of Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Echoes of Fear #1 we know that this is a follow-up to Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Quest of the Jedi that came out in April 2023.
In Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Quest of the Jedi from Phase II we get a mention that a Sith Lord, Darth Ravi, had hidden away an ancient artifact called the Echo Stone, a stone so powerful that it allowed non-force users to use the force, on a remote planet called Angcord.
The stone is being worshipped on that planet as the locals believe it to be magic as it’s the source of their power. But Jedi Master Barnabus Vim and his Padawan Vix Fonnick discover that the stone is poisoning the planet and exposing everyone there to the darkside.
After some confrontation they eventually get through to the Lady of Angcord (who attacked them for questioning her most valued artifact) and destroy the Echo Stone before spreading it’s shards across the galaxy to weaken it.
First comic book appearance of Darth Ravi
Ravi is not actually in Claudia Gray’s Quest of the Jedi comic, he’s just mentioned. But based on the cover art for Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Echoes of Fear #1 it seems like we’ll be getting Darth Ravi’s first comic book appearance in Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Echies of Fear #1.

This would make this a key issue and one of the bigger spec books of Phase III of the High Republic.
Since the plot of the comic is about Reath Silas (first comic appearance Star Wars: The High Republic #8 Phase I) and Amadeo Azzazzo (first comic appearance is Star Wars: The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight #1) this appearance will most likely be a flashback as the two do their research on the Echo Stones and their connection with Ravi.
Really excited to see how this ties into the bigger narrative about the Republic, the Jedi, the Nihil, and the Nameless.

Quest of the Jedi is one of my favorite High Republic comics to date and it’s nice to see that we don’t have to wait much longer to see it’s significance to the overall story being told.
