Huge news everywookiee! Earlier today StarWars.com announced that we’d be getting a new one-shot called, Star Wars: Revelations (2023) #1, that, just like last year’s Star Wars: Revelations one-shot, teases comic stories to come in 2024!
At the moment the release date is December 20th, 2023.
And look who’s on the cover A by artist Rod Reis…
That’s right, our favorite blue boi, mf’in Grand Admiral Thrawn! According to the Star Wars Team, Star Wars: Revelations (2023) #1 will include previews that, “span the High Republic to the original trilogy, with Jabba the Hutt, Darth Vader, Mace Windu, Keeve Trennis, Thrawn, and more appearing, along with the debut of new characters.”
Oh hell yes! Grand Admiral Thrawn is my favorite Star Wars character. I love Timothy Zahn’s writing and I think Lucasfilm has done a great job fleshing out the character with complex motivations & goals, and intelligence.
It’s no surprise that this announcement came today as it’s widely expected that Thrawn makes his live action appearance TONIGHT on Disney+ during episode 6 of Ahsoka. I don’t know for sure but it seems likely.
The other notable line in that quite is, “along with the debut of new characters”, as it confirms ahead of time that there will be first appearances. They did something similar in 2022 with Star Wars: Revelations, hyping up Ajax Sigma. Now, that hasn’t translated into big value just yet for that issue, but, assuming Ajax doesn’t die during the Dark Droids crossover event, I could see that changing significantly over time. But time will tell.
