Two new comics and a 2nd print variant hit comic shops across the globe next week on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Let’s take a look at what to expect.
Star Wars Bounty Hunters #34 by Ethan Sacks and Marvel Comics – This one is notable to me because we appear to be at a reboot point for the series. Meaning the main cast is likely changing. Just check out the publisher descriptions for the next two issues.
The publisher description for Bounty Hunters #34 teases a final battle: “INFERNO SQUAD TAKES THE SHOT! The BOUNTY HUNTERS must take on the INFERNO SQUAD head-on! This is the final fight of the Bounty Hunters as you know them! The fallout will shake the lineup to its core… Who STAYS? Who GOES? Who JOINS?”
While Bounty Hunters #35, due out in June, is described as, “A NEW ERA FOR THE BOUNTY HUNTERS! In the aftermath of the battle with INFERNO SQUAD, VALANCE and T’ONGA are joined by the most dangerous bounty hunters in the galaxy… KHEL TANNA! DEATHSTICK! DURGE! •…and BOBA FETT?!”
I am all for this change, personally. Getting Khal Tanna, Deathstick, Durge, Boba, Valance, and T’onga in the same stories is just the shot in the arm that this series needs in my opinion. Excited to see where Ethan takes this thing.
Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – The Nameless Terror #4 – This is the final issue in this 4-part mini-series by George Mann (one of my favorite Star Wars authors at the moment) and Dark Horse Comics. I’ve loved this series so far. The art has been great, the stakes have been real, and we’re getting to see what an extended conflict with the nameless would look like.
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi – Jabba’s Palace #1 2nd Print Variants – There are two variants for this 2nd printing. An open order Todd Nauck variant and a 1:25 virgin variant of the Alex Maleev Boba Fett cover. This issue has three first appearances in it but it’s hard to tell how important they will be. I do think Bane Malar has potential though.
I will say though that the 2nd print virgin 1:25 variant of the beautiful Alex Maleev variant from the first print will likely be a hot commodity because I’ve seen next to none listed on the secondary market. They could be hard to find.
Also, don’t forget to scroll down to the final order cutoff section. Monday May 15 is the final order cutoff for Star Wars: Darth Vader #35, Star Wars: Sana Starros #5, and the 2nd printing of Star Wars #34 that went absolutely nuts last week.
Lastly, I wanted to say that I hope you had an amazing Star Wars Day. As divided as the Star Wars fanbase can be at times this day is all about celebrating what we love about Star Wars. The silly things that have made our days better just by existing.
Check out everything new coming up (including all variants) below and get your pre-orders in over at TFAW.

Star Wars Comic Book FOC Deadlines
For those who aren’t familiar, FOC, or Final Order Cut Off, is when publishers and distributors require retailers to get their orders in. Printers then print according to that number (sometimes with overages). So, if you want to absolutely guarantee you get a book, the best bet is to order it before FOC. Final Order Cut Off is Monday 5/08/23 this week.
