One of the fan favorite characters from the middle-grade books from Phase I of the High Republic was kid genius Avon Starros. She was a prominent character in Star Wars: High Republic – A Test of Courage working with Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh survive a Nihil attack on their ship.
Avon’s mother is also a Galactic Republic Senator who is secretly working with her lover Marchion Ro and the Nihil to take down Starlight Beacon.
That’s a real half-assed summary but, in short, Avon an ally of the Jedi in their fight against the Nihil.
In Sana Starros #2 we find out that Sana, Mevera (Sana’s aunt), Aryssha (Sana’s cousin), and Thea (Sana’s Grandma) are trying to recover one of Avon’s data cubes that she encoded with all of the data from her crystal research. Apparantly Avon went missing at some point and the data on these cubes is valuable even over 150 years later.
The important thing here is that this flashback page is the very first time Avon Starro’s has shown up in a comic. Making this her first comic appearance.
I don’t know if this ever turns out to be a big key or anything but it sure seems like it’s setting up a future High Republic story that goes into how and why Avon Starros went missing.
