First Four Star Wars Women's History Month Variants By Peach Momoko Revealed

Marvel has tasked long-time comic artist Peach Momoko with creating her own variant set celebrate women’s history month in a galaxy far far away.

This March every new Star Wars comic will include a “Women’s History Month” variant featuring an iconic female character from Star Wars comics in Peach’s unique style. The first batch of the variants had their art released on the Marvel comics blog yesterday afternoon and they’re pretty damn dope.

Check them out.

While we have art for these four variants there will be 11 variants in total. Marvel also announced who will be on all of the other covers.

  • Star Wars #32 – Amilyn Holdo, Resistance leader known for her brave sacrifice in Star Wars: The Last Jedi (shown above)
  • Exact Issue Unknown – Barash, gifted Jedi gifted Jedi whose name is forever linked the “Barash Vow” and whose story is currently being told in Star Wars: The High Republic – The Blade
  • Hidden Empire #4 – Chanath Cha, deadly bounty hunter who’s currently targeting Darth Vader in Star Wars: Hidden Empire (shown above)
  • Doctor Aphra #30 – Domina Tagge, proud head of the Tagge family who recently sought revenge against Doctor Aphra in the pages of her ongoing solo series
  • Star Wars: Yoda #5 – Gheyr, a young Jedi padawan debuting in Star Wars: Yoda #4
  • Sana Starros #2 – Grammy Starros, matriarch of the Starros clan who will make her first appearance in this month’s Star Wars: Sana Starros #1
  • Han Solo and Chewbacca #10 – Khel Tanna, scoundrel employed by Jabba the Hutt currently teaming up with Han Solo in the Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca series (shown above)
  • Jabba’s Palace #1 – Leia, the groundbreaking icon is depicted in the Boussh disguise she used to infiltrate Jabba’s Palace in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi  (shown above)
  • High Republic #6 – Matty, a Jedi Padawan helping Vildar Mac in the pages of Star Wars: The High Republic
  • Bounty Hunters #32 – Nakano Lash, a Nautolan bounty hunter who once mentored Beilert Valance and recently resurfaced in the pages of Star Wars: Bounty Hunters
  • Darth Vader #32 – Sabé, loyal handmaiden of Padmé Amidala and currently in an uneasy alliance with Darth Vader in the pages of his ongoing solo series

A few interesting details in that list.

  1. You would think that the Barash variant would be High Republic The Blade #4 but that issue lists a Black History Month variant and not a women’s history month variant.
  2. Grammy Starros getting their first appearance in Sana Starros #1. This is a brand new character for me.
  3. Gheyr getting their first appearance in Star Wars: Yoda #4. Also a new character.

I love these variants because my daughter absolutely lost her mind when she saw them. Having bad ass female characters in Star Wars makes it 100% easier to get her to watch the shows, read the comics, and nerd out with me.

Excited to see remaining art get released over the coming week’s Be sure to follow @drunkwooky on instagram for all cover reveals and Star Wars comics news.

May the force be with you.

Regarding Barash: The Marvel.com article does indicate that The Blade #4 will have a Women’s History Month cover, which is presumably where Barash’s cover will be, I guess it’s getting lucky and getting the Black History Month one too
