Star Wars Hidden Empire #2 hits shelves on December 7th, 2022 and we’ve got the official preview of the issue courtesy of StarWars.com.
A few things stand out to me about this issue…
Both Cover A by Paulo Siqueira and the 1:25 ratio variant by David Lopez are 100%, full on, bangers. Vader holding that burning Crimson Dawn flag is… chef’s kiss.
I doubt we learn who they are until issue 4 or 5 but I am really interested in the identity of the two hooded figures who are listening to the Archivists account of this saga. They both appear to be Jedi. But at the time this story is being told we only know of two Jedi that are alive. Luke and Ahsoka. But if I had to bet it would on the pair of mysterious characters being Jedi Luke and Leia (as his apprentice.)
That would mean that the panels where they are listening to The Archivist’s recordings take place post Return of the Jedi. This would be significant because that would mean the main timeline in the comics would be approaching new(ish) territory in canon as we get more stories to fill the gap between Return of the Jedi – The Mandoverse shows – The Force Awakens.
Sign me up for that. As much as I love Luke, Leia, Vader, Han, Palpatine, and of course, Chewbacca… I’m ready for new stories that are not directly related to the events of the Original Trilogy.
