Bad Batch Season #2 Trailer: Will Commander Cody Appear and Who is the Wookiee Jedi?

by GrandAdmiralFrik

At Star Wars Celebration we got the official official trailer for the much anticipated Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 show which is due out in Fall 2022. The trailer is intense and, while the main plot is still somewhat of a mystery, we did get some clues as to some familiar names who will be showing up. First off, as we all knew, we get the main Clone Force 99 crew in Omega, Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, Echo, and friend turned foe Crosshair.

First off, watch the teaser below and then let’s talk about what I noticed that could be notable once the show comes out.

Let’s answer some questions that I’m sure some of you are having.

Will Commander Cody Show Up In Bad Batch Season #2?

Pretty quickly in the trailer, we get a glimpse of a clone in familiar-looking orange and white clone armor alongside Crosshair. That armor is of the 212th Battalion that was under General Kenobi’s command alongside his partner Commander Cody.

Then we get a second shot of a clone in regular issue clone armor that has the exact same scar on his forehead that Commander Cody has. You can see it here on Temura Morrison when in Attack of the Clones. It’s tough to see from the screenshot I grabbed from the trailer but when watching you can see it as his head moves.

If that’s not enough that is some leaked footage from the extended trailer that Star Wars Celebration attendees got to see where Commander Cody is mentioned directly.

It feels like Cody will initially go with his programming and join Crosshair on the Empire’s side and then have a change of pace as the clones start to be phased out of action.

We can clearly see full Sith Palpatine in his senate pod showing footage of a completely destroyed Kamino as he says “It is Time For A New Era.” This likely signifies the end of the Clone Program as he announces his plans to recruit for his new Imperial Army thus introducing the Stormtrooper to the world.

It’s only a matter of time for our favorite brainwashed clones to snap out of it and fight back.

Clone Commander Cody first appeared in the Star Wars Episode III The Revenge of the Sith Trade Paperback. His first traditional comic appearance is Star Wars Episode III The Revenge of the Sith Issue #3.

Who is the Wookiee Jedi in Bad Batch Trailer?

Wookie Jedi Youngling Gungi Bad Batch Season 2

This handsome fellow is a Jedi youngling named Gungi. He was in the Clone Wars animated show in an arc about Padawan’s creating their lightsabers and getting into some… mishief. His appearance in this show confirms that Gungi survived Order 66.

Though since we do not see him in any future media the crystal ball for Gungi is not looking too good. At this point Gungi has not appeared in a traditional comic.

We also see another Wookiee warrior in the trailer holding up what looks like a bowcaster. This is General Tarfful who had arcs in The Revenge of the Sith, The Clone Wars, and Jedi Fallen Order.

Chieftain Tarfful Bad Batch

Tarfful first appeared in issue #3 of Dark Horse’s 2005 adaptation of Revenge of the Sith when Master Yoda takes a Galactic Republic garrison to aid the Wookiee’s after they were invaded by the Seperatists.

This leads me to believe that the beach planet that every seems to think is Scarif is actually the Wookiee home world of Kashyyyk.

Kashyyyk Bad Batch

My guess is that we are going to see the Empire’s first steps towards enslaving the Wookie’s to create what eventually becomes The Death Star.

Eventually, Wookiees will see justice in the Star Wars universe but we’ll see some pain before then.

That’s all for now.

For light and life.
