Star Wars Comics First Appearances and Key Issues for November 24, 2021

by DrunkWooky

Welcome back, EveryWookiee! I’ve combed this weeks releases with a fine-toothed comb for first appearances and key events and summarized them for you below! This week we have Life Day #1 and Trail of Shadows #2 from Marvel, and Star Wars Adventures #12 and Star Wars Adventures Annual 2021 from IDW! In our New Comics for November 24 article last week, we mistakenly stated Star Wars #19 would be released this week. it appears it has been pushed back. Sorry for that error.

Life Day #1

Let’s start with this week’s biggie, Life Day #1! First up, we get the first canon mention of Lumpawaroo and Mallatobuck, Chewbacca’s son and wife. They both first appeared in Star Wars #91 (1977), and Mallatobuck’s courtship with Chewbacca was told in the Legends comic Chewbacca #1 (Dark Horse 2000).

Next up, we get the first full appearances of Jedi Master Nib Assek and Jedi Padawan Burryaga, Agaburry, the Wookiee Jedi. Burry made an unnamed cameo without dialogue in one panel of High Republic #1 (Marvel 2021), then a second unnamed cameo without dialogue in High Republic #9 (Marvel 2021).

Chewbacca’s father, Attichitcuk, makes his first canon appearance. Attichitcuk made his first cameo in Star Wars #91 (1977), and first full appearance in the Legends comic, Chewbacca #1 (Dark Horse 2000).

Next up, we have the first comic appearance of Oga Garra, a  female Blutopian owner of Oga’s Cantina, a drinking establishment in Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu. Although previously mentioned in Galaxy’s Edge #3, this is her first appearance.

Reeg Brosna, an Arcona male pirate, makes his first appearance in comics. Although a member of the Crimson Corsair’s crew, he did not show up in Star Wars Adventures #7 (IDW 2020) with the rest of the crew.

Finally, it looks like the dormant Drengir are still a threat in the Sequel Trilogy era.

High Republic Trail of Shadows #2

First up, we have the first comic appearance of Ghirra Starros. Yes, as in Sana Starros, the one galivanting around with Doctor Aphra in the Original Trilogy era! This is her ancestor. We also have a Republic Intelligency Director named Barquet’s first comic appearance.

Although he appeared in Trail of Shadows #1, we have a name for Arathab Fel:

Star Wars Adventures #12

First up, we have the first comics appearance of Garn Stewer, chief technician of the starship maintenance crew in the Alliance to Restore the Republic’s base on the moon Yavin 4. Garn appeared in Rogue One.

A pink astromech droid named QT-KT appears in the second story alongside Jedi, Aayla Secura. This is QT-KT’s first comic appearance. QT is a member of the D-Squad and owned by Aayla. QT-KT is derived from another droid named R2-KT. When developing the Clone Wars, the name was changed froom “R2-KT” to avoid confusion. R2-KT was created to memorialize Katie Johnson, daughter of Albin Johnson, founder of the 501st Legion, Star Wars costuming group. Katie Johnson died of pediatric brain cancer at the age of seven. The last page of this issue dedicates the issue to Katie Johnson.

Star Wars Adventures Annual 2021

First up, we have the first appearance of a minor character, a black market pet dealer named Bralem Mopek, a Nimbanel like Mosep Bineed from Star Wars #2 (Marvel 1977).

Then the first appearance of another minor character, a Gotal trader named Keradd.

Finally, the first canon appearance of Hoojibs, a rabbit-like creature that feeds on power sources like Mynocks do. Hoojibs first appeared in Star Wars #55 (Marvel 1977).

In the second story in this issue, we have three street kids who stole a rare Canto Bight coin from Cloud City Baron Administrator, Lando Calrissian. Their names are Traff (male human), Moxxin (male Ughnaught), and Vandaya (female human). This is the first appearance of these insofar minor characters.

Lando is chasing them through the city via a holographic droid projection. I’m getting heavy Tony Stark vibes here.

The kids plan on giving the coin to a crime boss named Wonn Ionstrike. This is the first comic appearance of Wonn Ionstrike, but he appeared in the Legends novel, Scoundrels and some roleplaying source books.

And that’s it for this week! Join us again next week!
