Star Wars Comics First Appearances and Key Events for July 28, 2021

Welcome back to another new comic book day, EveryWookiee!! I’ve scoured today’s news releases and below are the first appearances, cameos and key events from this weeks Marvel and IDW Star Wars comic releases!

High Republic #7 (Marvel)

So, we all saw this coming from a mile out. We had the solicit which clued us in that Orla Jareni would show up, the art preview a few weeks back, and last week’s lettered preview. Still, this issue is the first appearance of Jedi Wayseeker Orla Jareni and arguably the first appearance of Sith, Darth Krall. Unknown comics has an exclusive first cover appearance of Orla. Mike Mayhew has an exclusive cover appearance of Darth Krall with a shadow variant going live for pre-order today (7/28/2021)

Purchase links:

First off, Darth Krall appears in a vision to Keeve Trennis. Depending on whether you consider visions to be first appearances, there’s enough here to warrant a first appearance status. He is, however unnamed in this issue.

The dark side statues which have appeared in Claudia Gray’s Into the Dark novel, High Republic 4, and last week’s High Republic Adventures 6 appear again. Not a first but a nice big, clear depiction of these important relics.

The astromech droid KC-78 made two unnamed cameos in High Republic 1 and 3.

He’s named in issue 7, though, making this Kaysee’s first full appearance.

Administrator Velko Jahen makes her first comics first appearance. Although she has appeared in a Star Wars Insider fiction, this is her comics first.

Finally, Orla Jareni shows up to save Keeve when she’s in a bind. She appears both in visions and in Keeve’ steal fictional life making this her first comic appearance.

Star Wars 15 (Marvel)

Two imperial officers, Lieutenant Bonnard and Admiral Kalaxo make their first appearances, but I wouldn’t get too attached (wink wink)

Next, Charles Soule continues to link the High Republic continuity to other eras by revisiting the planet, Ab Dalis. Ab Dalis first appeared in Soule’s novel, Light of the Jedi, but this is its first comics appearance.

Star Wars Adventures 7 (IDW)

We knew Crimson Corsair was making his first comic cover appearance on the Brokenshire cover B already.

Crimson Corsair’s first mate, Quiggold makes his first full comics appearance basically narrating an Ocean’s 11 style heist recap. Quiggold made a cameo previously in Force Awakens 3 along with Crimson Corsair’s first cameo as well.

Next we get the first appearance of the Crimson Corsair’s custom speeder. A speeder that looks just like The Corsair’s helmet! Is this the Star Wars version of the Spider-Mobile? Methinks yes!

Then the first appearance of another of the Corsair’s crew, a burly Gamorrean, Squeaky! Hems here to liberate Gamorrean slaves! Squeaky made his first appearance in an ebook, The Crimson Corsair and the Lost Treasure of Count Dooku. This is his first comic appearance though.

Next up, yep, you guessed it, another of the Corsair’s team, a female Twi’lek named Reveth. A systems expert/slicer of sorts. Reveth made her first appearance in an ebook, The Crimson Corsair and the Lost Treasure of Count Dooku, and her first comic cameo in the Star Wars Adventures Ashcan along side the Corsair. This is her first full comic appearance, though as the Ashcan was one panel, unnamed, with no dialogue. Here she is at least named.

Finally, a clone member who goes simply by “The Clone”. Reading the ebook, The Crimson Corsair and the Lost Treasure of Count Dooku, we know this is trooper CT-6116, nicknamed “Kix”. He discovered the Sith plot to destroy the Jedi during the Clone Wars and was put into stasis by Dooku before he could reveal the plot. He makes his first comic cameo in the Star Wars Adventures Ashcan along side the Corsair. This is his first full comics appearance, however. True, his name (either CT-6116 or “Kix”) is not mentioned. However, the only other clone we know Sidon’s crew encounters is a Medic named Kix. This clone is identified as a medic in this issue.

Finally, we get the gang all back together after successfully pulling off their caper. The Crimson Corsair speaks. Not a lot. But he speaks enough for me to call this his first full comics appearance. The crimson Corsair, Sidon Ithoni made his first cameo in the Force Awakens 3, another cameo in the Star Wars Adventures Ashcan and this is his first full appearance.
