All the info in this article, plus tons more about Star Wars comics can be found on WookyWiki.com, our sister site and Star Wars Comics First Appearance and Key Issue Database!

UPDATE: This new bounty hunter has been confirmed as Deva Lompop, a brand new character! Check out the reveal here!

Images are coming out for variants of the War of the Bounty Hunters Jabba the Hutt one shot out July 21, 2021 and a new face seems to be entering the fray! What appears to be a green-skinned female with multi-colored feathers either growing out of her head or worn on her head is emblazoned on the Bernard Chang variant and the 1:25 Coello incentive variant.

I personally think this is a brand new character. So far, in terms of solicited covers, these two covers are tied for her first comic cover appearance and it’s a reasonable assumption she’ll be inside the comic. Whether she shows up inside a comic released before July 21, 2021, well you’ll have to follow War of the Bounty Hunters yourself to find out.

UPDATE: This new character is named Deva Lompop, a brand new character to the Star Wars Universe! It has now been confirmed that she is absolutely not a Falleen character and, specifically, she is not Xizor’s niece Sava. So, all the info after this point is now just fun Sava first appearance and key issue info!

If I had to venture a guess about this being a previously seen Star Wars character, my best bet would be Savan, the female Falleen with ties to Black Sun, and niece to one-time Vigo of Black Sun, Prince Xizor. I’ve long speculated Xizor would show up in War of the Bounty Hunters.

There are a couple of things weighing against this theory, though. First, Savan has a black top knot style ponytail like other Falleen.

Second, Falleen have historically been depicted without ears. This new character clearly has an ear pierced multiple times.

The Falleen appear to be an earless species.

Finally, the solicitation for War of the Bounty Hunters Jabba the Hutt says that Jabba is using a bounty hunter with ties to the High Republic:

JABBA NEVER FORGIVES! JABBA NEVER FORGETS! JABBA THE HUTT is one of the most powerful and ruthless gangsters in the galaxy-and BOBA FETT, his most trusted bounty hunter, has failed him. How will Jabba deal with betrayal? VIOLENTLY. And what does this have to do with a bounty hunter with ties to the HIGH REPUBLIC? Justina Ireland and Luca Pizzari’s hutt-sized spectacular is the first of four action-packed ‘War of the Bounty Hunters’ tie-ins about the criminal underworld’s most notorious hunters and scoundrels, all told by the best Star Wars writers and illustrators in the galaxy.

If they’re talking about this new character on the cover as the character with ties to the High Republic, Black Sun (so far) has no canon ties to the High Republic. We don’t know for sure that they were around before the Clone Wars at this date actually.

At any rate, if you want to try and chase the speculation that this new character on War of the Bounty Hunters Jabba The Hutt is a redesigned Savan, here are your keys:

Her only appearances are in Shadows of the Empire Evolutions, which takes place after Return of the Jedi. Savan assumes the mantle of Vigo of Black Sun. She first appears disguised as an elderly male Falleen in issue #1, published by Dark Horse February 11, 1998. She reveals her true identity is issue #2, and her first cover appearance is issue #4.

Again, I think it’s far more likely that this character on the new Jabba the Hutt Variants is brand new, but this is the closest guess I have if it’s an old character being revived in canon. Please don’t bet the bank on this speculation. I’m fully prepared for this to prove out wrong.

Now, this has nothing to do with these recent cover reveals, but if you want to grab Xizor’s key comics, this is what to look for: Shadows of the Empire #1. Prince Xizor’s first comic appearance, first cover, and the first appearance of the Black Sun Crime Syndicate, confirmed to be involved in War of the Bounty Hunters.
