War of the Bounty Hunters #1 First Appearances and Key Events

by DrunkWooky

War of the Bounty Hunters #1 came out yesterday and it’s full of great canon nods, appearances, and reveals! Check out the list below, but reader beware, spoilers abound from here on out!

You can still grab a copy over at TFAW! Grab the variant of your choice!

1. Vermillion

The Vermillion is a modified ZV-9 Freighter belonging to Taka Jamoreesa. Han Solo and Lando Calrissian used the ship some time after the destruction of the second Death Star and it first appeared in the novel, Last Shot. This issue is the Vermillion’s first comic appearance.

2. Margo and Trinia

Margo and Trinia have been Crimson Dawn operatives since at least the time Dryden Vos was around. They both make small appearances in the Solo: A Star Wars Story film and make cameo appearances on one page of the Marvel comics adaptation issue #2. War of the Bounty Hunters #1, will however, be their first appearance in an original (non-adaptation) comic. Margo is the scaly looking Imroosian female, and Trinia is the human female with head tattoos.

3. Nalita and Tekrit

These two kids seem like rogues just trying to make their way in the world. Tekrit’s time may be over, but lets keep an eye on Nalita’s potential vendetta against Fett.

4. Still No ROTJ Jetpack for Fett

You’ll note that Boba Fett still has a green jetpack ala Empire Strikes Back in this issue. In War of the Bounty Hunters Alpha, he was last seen with no jetpack at all. So, while Alpha may have been the story about how he lost is ESB jetpack, we still haven’t seen the story of how he got his ROTJ jetpack.

5. It’s Not The Fall that Kills…

Fett sends both Zuckuss and 4-LOM flailing into separate holes, but seeing as these two bounty hunters have their own one shot comic coming out of this event, it’s unlikely he permanently dispatched them.

6. A Cornucopia of Hutts

Jabba meets with some Hutts in War of the Bounty Hunters #1. There are Hutts we’ve met and brand new Hutts.

Bokku is the first to speak. We met him in his first appearance, Darth Vader #12. A Hutt named Meeka has a small appearance, making a statement to Bokku. There is an unnamed hedonistic Hutt remarking about lavish Shu-Torun parties, and then finally Marlo. Marlo is asleep during most of this meeting. He is awoken by his protocol droid to weigh in and starts referencing Chancellor Soh, who, of course, is Chancellor during the High Republic era. Marlo is over 1,000 years old, so he was around during the High Republic comic series. We may meet him again over there. This, however, is Marlo’s first appearance.

7. Crimson Dawn

And finally, the big reveal! Crimson Dawn is back, and with it, a familiar face!

Qi’ra first appeared in comics in the Marvel adaptation of Solo: A Star Wars Story issue #1. Her first appearance in a comic with an original story (not an adaptation), was Han Solo: Imperial Cadet #1.
