I’ve never been a huge fan of either Falcon or Winter Soldier. To me, the idea of a brain-washed Eastern European sleeper agent just smacks of Cold War tropes that already bored me and Falcon just swooped in out of nowhere with weird goggles and was kind of cheesy and annoying. Do we really need another pawn of the U.S. military industrial complex character? Anyway, having said that, the first episode of Disney+’s new Falcon and Winter Soldier series has me intrigued and, dare I say, actually caring about the characters for the first time. Falcon’s opening aerial chase scene was everything I used to love about Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Schwarzenegger action films, the lot. Amazing visuals. Then they follow that up with heavy duty character development leg work. Time will tell, but I’m in to give it a chance.
