We can report from confidential industry sources today that two new 6″ (1/12 Scale) action figure lines are coming in 2020: Ghostbusters and G.I. Joe. Additionally, two Marvel Legends lines are coming (one from Square Enix’s new Avengers video game coming out later this year, and the other from X-Men Age of Apocalypse). We expect to see reveals and hear more about these at New York Toy Fair next month.
Ghostbusters
UPDATE: Hasbro officially announced the Ghostbusters Plasma Series at Toy Fair New York 2020. Pre-orders are now live and scheduled release date is June 2020:
Hasbro is making good on their global Ghostbusters license acquired last year with the new “Plasma Series” 6″ series of figures. All we have are code names, but the rumor is that at least four of these figures are the original 1984 cast: Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler, and Winston Zeddemore. The code names for the figures are:
- Sesame
- Spinach
- Pepper
- Zucchini
- Clementine
- Grizzly
The first wave is scheduled to release at the end of April 2020.
G.I. Joe
UPDATE: Figures confirmed at Toy Fair New York 2020 and pre-orders live. Figures shceduled to release June 2020:
Hasbro is coming back and re-launching the G.I. Joe line. Right now all we know is that it’s a 6″ line named “G.I. Joe Classified”. It’s likely the name will be different and “Classified” is just a placeholder. These figures will be based on classic Joe characters and not based on the new live action films (at least for wave 1). The wave will include:
- Snake Eyes
- Roadblock
- Destro
- Duke
- Scarlett
This line is scheduled to release July 2020. We reported rumors of this wave earlier this month, but we can now confirm that we have independently verified these facts.
Marvel Legends Avengers
This next wave of Marvel Legends 6″ figures will be based upon the upcoming Square Enix Avengers video game dropping in 2020. It’s scheduled for a April to May 2020 release. The figures included are:
- Captain America
- Iron Man
- Khamala Khan
- Mach 1
- Mar-Vell
- Rage
- Leader
No word on what the Build-A-Figure is yet.
Marvel Legends X-Men (AOA)
The next wave of X-Men Marvel Legends will drop May/June 2020 and is rumored to be an Age of Apocalypse wave. The reason for those rumors is that images of Wolverine depict the blue/black costumed Wolverine with a stump hand and Wild-Child appears to have a chain which is usually held by Sabertooth in Age of Apocalypse.
The figures int his wave will be:
No word on the Build-A-Figure, but it’s rumored to be either Sabertooth or Apocalypse based on the flavor of the wave.

[…] We reported this rumor a few weeks back and we were almost correct. We did not see Sugar Man coming as the build-a-figure. Sabretooth would have made much more sense. At least a regular Apocalypse release is coming, so they didn’t sacrifice that release to include Sugar Man. […]
