D23 Announcement: Disney to Open “Shop-in-Shop” Disney Stores Inside Select Target Stores

by DrunkWooky

Target and Disney announced potentially great news for Action Figure collectors and enthusiasts yesterday at D23 Expo. Disney Store will be opening “shops-in’shops” inside 25 select Target stores around the country. Whether this means that Target will continue to stock Disney property merchandise in its toy section or whether Disney Store will take over that burden on its own is unclear. However, Disney Store exclusives may be making their way to 25 Target locations which is a good thing for everybody.

Disney fans, this one’s for you. We’re setting out on a new adventure with Disney to bring magical shopping experiences to our guests.

First, get ready for the Disney store at Target. These new “shop-in-shop” locations will launch at 25 select Target stores in October, with 40 more opening by October 2020. The fun will also be available in a new digital experience at Target.com/Disneystore. The full site launches Oct. 4, but you can take an early peek right now.

The Disney store at Target will feature more than 450 items including toys, games, apparel and accessories—with more than 100 products that were previously only available at Disney retail locations. Guests will find favorites like Disney Princess, Star Wars, Marvel, Disney Junior characters, Classic Disney plush, apparel, home and holiday products, along with collectibles like the Disney Animators’ Collection.

Our teams worked closely with Disney to co-develop and design the store experience with features like music, interactive displays, photo ops and a seating area where families can watch Disney movie clips. Here’s a preview of the space:Disney elements: (c) Disney

Adding to the excitement, we’ll also open a new Target store near the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando in 2021, to bring visiting families a little extra convenience.

You might say it’s all a dream come true.

Target CEO Brian Cornell joined Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, onstage at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, to announce this big news in front of a cheering crowd.

Best of all, the news means guests will be able to take advantage of all of their favorite Target benefits and services as they shop these in-store and online experiences. Use your Target REDcard to save 5% on every purchase, and choose from our same-day pickup, same-day delivery and free two-day shipping options to get your products in a snap.

The Disney store at Target launches on Target.com and in select Target stores this October. Prices range from $2–$200, with many items under $20. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!
