Sith Trooper Design Together with Hot Toys, Black Series, and Many Other Products Revealed

by DrunkWooky

As we approach SDCC, stuff like this is going to start seeping out of the woodwork.

Seemingly out of nowhere today, we got a full reveal of the new trooper design from Star Wars Episode IX: the Rise of Skywalker, including Hot Toys’ and Hasbro Black Series Sith Trooper promo images. See gallery below.

Disney, via Starwars.com discussed details about the SDCC exhibit celebrating the history of the Stormtrooper design:

Fans attending the mega pop-culture event (July 18-21) will be treated to a new exhibit of trooper armor from across the Star Wars saga, including a first look at the next evolution in Imperial/First Order soldiers: the “Sith trooper” from the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

A total of nine different costumes, all screen-used, will be on display at the Lucasfilm pavilion (booth #2913): Imperial stormtrooper, TIE pilot, death trooper, shoretrooper, biker scout, First Order stormtrooper, First Order TIE pilot, Captain Phasma, and Sith trooper.

Hot Toys’ 1/6 Scale Sith Trooper

The “Early Release Edition” will be available at SDCC Booth #1929 for $230. No word if it will be available as a shared exclusive through Sideshow.

What we don’t know about the Hot Toys 1/6 Scale Figure:

  • General Public Release date
  • Whether or not this is some sort of concept or an episode IX Rise of Skywalker spoiler
  • Exclusivity? SDCC?

We’ll keep you updated if this goes up for order on Sideshow or other retailers.

My initial impression is that I love this design. I think figures with this design are going to do far better than the ill-fated First Order Trooper and Praetorian Guard designs. With less smooth edges and a more angular look, this seems to be a return to trooper basics. The one concerning thing is the look of that black undersuit. Hot Toys may be keeping that thick rubber suit from the Death Trooper and First Order Stormtrooper figures. It restricted movement so much that I hope this is a different suit.

For now, just enjoy the sweet, sweet pictures.

Black Series SDCC Exclusive

The Black Series SDCC Exclusive Sith Trooper will be available at
Booth #3329 for $32. Like exclusives in this type of packaging in the past, these are unlikely to sell officially through other channels. Maybe Hasbro Pulse in some sort of one day sale.

The base figure, if Hasbro keeps pace with its tradition of SDCC trooper releases, should be available in normal Black Series packaging at normal retail later on. It will likely be lighter on accessories or the accessories will be split between multiple releases.
