Amazon Exclusive Star Wars Black Series Emperor Palpatine: Hasbro Releases New Official Promo Images

Amazon is offering an exclusive Emperor Palpatine complete with force lightning effect, throne, and three head sculpts (stoic, sneering, and enraged!). The figure is delivered with free Prime delivery and is slated to ship in October 2019 just in time for Palpatine’s cackle to return in Rise of Skywalker! Late yesterday, Hasbro released brand new promo images of the figure in box and the multiple head sculpts Palpatine will come packaged with. Full gallery below.

The previous packaging mock up of Palpatine was shown without the inner plastic tray and looks like it wasn’t the final lay out.

In the new packaging image, they’ve brought the force lightning up into the front of the box for better visibility and Palpatine’s cane is now visible.

One improvement I’m happy to see is that the cushions of the throne are now purple. The previous promo shot below showed black cushions. I’m no perfectionist when it comes to movie accuracy on a figure, but that would have been a huge oversight if released black.

I’m extremely excited for this release. Right now, I have the original blue line packaging Palpatine release sitting on a knock off 3D printed throne and there is definitely room for improvement. It looks like this figure has a soft goods tunic under his robes, allowing for him to more naturally sit in the throne. The addition of force lightning means I can ditch my tamashii effect stand in photos. Finally, who doesn’t like multiple expressions on the figure?
